The ES8043SC Pro-Curve Linear is definately the best razor I have ever owned. This is based on 3 other panasonic models to compare. You can get the closest shave in the shortest time. I shave my face and my head with this razor, and it does a great job on both. It usually takes several passes to get all the hairs, but it will shave virtually as close as a blade. I can get my head cue ball smooth without suffering the inevitable nicks and cuts of head shaving with a blade. It sure is a lot more convenient, and cheaper, than blades and shaving cream, over time. Especially if you like to shave every day, or every other day. I usually shave dry, but other reviewers say shaving with soap is even better. Also the popup trimmer is great for edging my goatee. I've been using it for a month, and it's never "bitten" me yet, like a couple other electric razors I've tried have. You'll get the best results if you don't go more than 3 days between shaves. It takes much longer to get a good shave with it if you have substantial growth to mow down.
I generally get about 4-5 face and head shaves on a charge. It has a lithium ion battery, so you can charge it anytime without worry of getting "battery memory" issues like nickel cadmium, or nickel metal hydride batteries can develop, when the batteries are not completely depleted before recharging. It has a flashing LED that tells you when the unit needs charged, and usually there's ample time to finish your shave, and then plug it in to charge when you're done.
It cleans up easy by just popping off the foil head and running the blades under the tap, or you can do a more thorough job with soap and water. No need for expensive cleaning docks and cartridges.
All in all, I think it's the best bang for your buck electric shaver on the market today. There are cheaper models in Panasonic's lineup, but they lack the 13,000 RPM motor, which is key to the excellent performance this unit offers.

Over the years I have tried several electric razors. Generally I was very disappointed. I've had 3 Norelco (Phillips), a Remington, and a Braun. I find the Panasonic to be a very good razor. For the last 15 years (i.e. my entire shaving life), I have used Norelco shavers. When the battery on my last one would no longer hold a charge, I decided to try something new, and purchase this Panasonic wet/dry shaver. Materials in the box caution users to "Please Stick With It. It's Worth it." They say my skin and beard need 30 days to adjust. Okay. Expectations duly lowered, I turned the shaver on, was momentarily surprised by the high frequency buzz that comes with 13,000 oscillations a minute, and ran the shaver down my cheek.
WOW.
Folks, this shaver has produced an EXTREMELY close shave, with no irritation at all, and no uncomfortable pulling sensation that Norelco's "lift and cut" method sometimes produces. Nothing can quite match a straight blade, but this is without a doubt the closest shave I've ever gotten from an electric shaver -- and I'm sure it will produce even better results as my skin and beard "adjust."
I was hesitant to switch from the trusty Norelco 3-headed shavers to this foil shaver. But I'm SO glad I did. And you can bet I'm going to tell my family about this. It was my dad who introduced me to Norelcos all those years ago. It's about time I introduce him to the Panasonic. :-)
