Product Review: GREAT SHAVER! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a long time user of Panasonic wet & dry shavers and have used an ES8066 for the last 5 years. I looked at many options and read many reviews before deciding to buy the Panasonic ES8043. This afternoon, I received my shaver, charged it fully (only took an hour, as advertised) and began working on the 4 day growth that I prepared just for the occasion. Note that I get a 5 o'clock shadow about 2 hours after I shave each morning, so my 4 day growth is pretty substantial.
Out of the box, my first impression was that the ES8043 was a lot cheaper built than my older Panasonic. It is lighter, more delicate, and seems more `plasticy' when compared to my older model. Also, the popup trimmer in the older model was much wider and more solid. I also prefer the induction recharging method as it has less moving and connecting parts and therefore has less things to break. But the new model does look very cool and `high tech'.
My shave was awesome. First, I trimmed 1/3 of my face with a Conair trimmer and used the ES8043's pop-up trimmer for another third. I then shaved with the ES8043 on everything left over. The shave in all areas of my face was extremely close and comfortable. I found no hair pulling whatsoever - even against long hairs under my chin. I have no irritation at all. Shaver noise was much quieter than my older model. The pop-up trimmer works fine, but I do miss the one in my older model.
The ergonomics of the ES8043 was very comfortable and though the shaver felt awfully delicate in my hands my shave was easier, faster, and closer.
This baby is a keeper! I'll repost in 6 months or so with an update, if necessary.
Product Review: Good Summary: 4 Stars
Good on price, charges fast and I can used it a few times before recharges is needed, but it does not cut the stubs on my neck that well it takes several passed and a lot of extra effort.
Product Review: Good Razon!! Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using Norelco razors for past 3 years. This was my first try at the linear razor from Panasonic. Been using it for the past 3 weeks and seems like a very good razor. Less "burns" than the Norelco and zero nicks. With the Norelco, pushing hard to get curved hairs always caused burns or small nicks, but that does not happen with this one. Overall a good razor!
Product Review: Good Shave.....But...... Summary: 3 Stars
Alright there are plenty of good reviews here so I will keep mine quick and simple.
Pros:
1) It recharges fast, feels light and good grip.
2) The pivot head makes simple to shave around the neck.
Cons:
1) Feels cheap. I am comparing it with my Norelco.
2) Charger: Its HUGE! Again comparing to my Norelco.
3) Bag: Its the cheapest thing I've EVER seen. Useless. My Norelco came with a nice leather bag and had a tight fit around my razor.
4) No battery meter: Although it claims to have a 5 minute emergency charge.
With this said, I regret not getting the cheaper ES4026 that was highly recommended by consumer reports.
