This shaver is giving me the best shaves ever. I have a particularly tough beard and I've experimented with many electric shavers over the years, always going back to a safety razor. But, I really believe the days of the blade are over for me. This product does all that it advertised and more. A super product.
For those that are disturbed by the flashing blue light, throw a cloth over it!

I did quite a bit of research before I bought this shaver. I checked Consumer Reports and some other reviews sites. It seems the foil shavers do better than the rotary ones. I've been using my new shaver for a couple of weeks now and love it. Generally, I hate shaving every morning. It's just such a pain. Using an electric rather than shaving cream and a blade is so much nicer. No, it doesn't shave as close as a blade but I don't believe any electric razor will. It does a great job of making me presentable for the day and in record time. The quickness and convenience of an electric far outweighs the closeness of a blade for me.Product Review: Great Shaves

Well, it's been a little while since mid-November when the shaver arrived, and I still love it. Best shave ever. I've used Panasonic shavers since 1984 and have alway been happy with them, but this is the best ever! I hesitated to put that much money in a shaver, but now, NO REGRETS.
It is a closer shave than any I have before. The last shaver was a Braun 4775, a gift, and I was never happy with it. It wasn't as close as my previous Panasonic.
Not so with this gift to myself the ES-LA93-K.
It is quicker, smoother, more comfortable than any shaver I have ever had. A joy to shave.
Only complaint, a minor one, is that when it is in the charger/cleaner, after any of the cycles, the led display flashes every other second. It is BRIGHT! Too bright, it lights up a room with blue flashes. It is a bit annoying especially at night. I don't know why they chose to make it flash all the time.
It does come with a carry case and shield for the head of the shaver and you can charge it by connecting the power cord directly to it, both these items are unclear in the information on the AMAZON informational pages. You can travel without the charger/cleaner base unit.
I do recommend it.
Wish for: All previous Panasonic shavers had to be replaced because the internal ni/cad batteries died. I would wish for end-user replaceable batteries!

I bought this for my husband since he's very picky about using an electric razor. He didn't think the shave would be close enough and was ready to not like it. Works great in the shower with a little bit of shaving cream. Had a little bit of neck irritation after first use, but I was aware of this and didn't use too much force when shaving my neck. I figure the best way to shave my neck is to find out which way the grains are going and go against them with slow, multiple passes.
I haven't used to self-cleaning system yet, I just remove the foil and rinse it out. Still on my first charge after about 8 shaves.
Update:
One month later on second charge and it's working great. No more irritation on the neck, plus a smooth shave all around going against the grain.
