Product Review: Flimsy, doesn't follow contours of face

Unfortunately, the guard broke after maybe 15-20 uses. Cleaning it often required moving the guard, and it shattered upon removal.
But even before that happened, the razor never really followed the contours of my face very well and left a lot of curlier beard hairs outlying. Definitely do not recommend.

Having cut my husband's hair with scissors for many years, we finally decided to change to clippers and go with a shorter style. I had a corded Norelco that I loved and did a good job but I wanted a cord-free one. I shopped and found this Panasonic ER224 and liked the idea that it was cordless and could be washed off with water. What a disappointment! I have tried to use it for 3 haircuts now, and have come away frustrated every time. The hair gets stuck in the guard after just a couple of passes and I have to stop and clean it out. It takes many passes to get all the hair the same length which means the haircut time is much longer. I cannot see a child sitting through this process. I found this at Ross for $16 and I have used this to cut my hair (yes no trip to the barber, just do it all over on setting - between 5-8 closest to a #2 on barbers clippers) for over 2 years now and its still going strong and the hair looks fine, no one has ever commented on it looking messed up or patchy, Mine is just a plug into the bottom not a fancy base. One thing I might mention, you mention worrying you'll break the guard one day.. I dial it all the way to 20 then I "pinch" it or lift it off the peg. this works great and no worries about breaking it (or stripping the lock on the dial) but just make sure you put the dial back down (the peg will scratch you).Product Review: Good Buy

I purchased this after using Philips/Norelco units for the past 10 years. My most recent trimmer suddenly died after the rechargeable battery gave out, preventing me from using it plugged into AC as well -- what a great design feature! This unit has a good feel in the hand, the blade seems to be of decent quality, and I really like the way the trimmer guard setting locks when the unit is turned on, preventing the setting from changing by pressing too hard on the guard while using. The only gripe that I have is the guard seems to be rather flimsy, as others here have noted. Aside from that, this looks like money well spent.
