Product Reviews of PHion Balance Diagnostic Ph Test Strips, 4.5 - 9.0 ph Range, 90-CountProduct Review: A little unsure now... Summary: 4 Stars
I recently purchased the Phion test strips, tested myself, and to no surprise found I was highly acidic. Morning urine was 5.75 and morning saliva 6.0. As I have had kidney stones, gout and ongoing psoriasis for many years, which are all indicators of an unhealthy pH level, I was not too surprised. However, I was a little concerned when I went over to my parents house to test their Kangen water alkalizer system. The water was supposed to be 9.0(very alkaline). The pHion strip showed 7.0. Their test, which involved the chemical phenolphthalein, the normal indicator for acidity/alkalinity in the lab(my mom is in medical research, she is very familiar with it) showed 9.0... I then tested my saliva to see if it was a bogus reading, but my saliva tested at around 6, which matched what I tested with the strip. Just a little confused as to why the strip would show a reading of 7.0 while the indicating solution showed the correct pH...both on my saliva and the alkaline water
Product Review: DON'T BUY!!! Summary: 1 Stars
Terrible product, you cannot tell what your PH is with these strips, there is no way to compare the color, impossible. They give you a paper with colors to compare the strip to, lighter and darker depending on your PH. You really can't accurately tell the difference as far as I'm concered. Don't believe me, then buy them yourself.
Product Review: Do Not work!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I received the "dual strips," but was under the impression that the newer strips were now the single color strips. I contacted the company twice--the reps were not informed about this product. One rep told me she didn't know why there were two colors on the strip, but to just ignore the bottom color-- (so why have two colors??). I told the rep that the colors never change, no matter the various urine, pool, fish tank, drinking water, I tested them on. I was assured I would get an e-mail response with my questions--never did. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT AND THIS COMPANY!!! (I am familiar with testing water PH in my pool and fish tank--the strips I buy for testing the tank and pool all work great!
Product Review: Does not work as advertised Summary: 1 Stars
I got these pH test strips in order to make a solution of water at around pH 5. Well, the pH strips seem to perpetually be yellow. The closest to green I was able to get them was by putting them in bleach, which had a known pH of around 12, and then the strips only showed a pH of 6.5. So these strips are extremely unreliable and I would not recommend spending anything on them.
Product Review: Does not work with water Summary: 3 Stars
These strips do not work with water or any other non-ionized solution. See the PhIon FAQ on their site which says, "These strips do NOT test against water or chemicals. They need to be tested against high ionized solutions. Water is not a high ionized solution and other chemicals may dilute the strip to be unreadable."
They do work with urine or saliva, but you cannot test them using water or other solutions.
The product information on this should be updated to clarify this issue. There are several negative reviews where people think the strips do not work because there is no warning in the product information that the strips cannot be tested with water or similar solutions.
