Customer Review: My off-white carpet's survival depends on this product!

When we moved into our home 9 years ago, with off-white wall to wall carpeting, our two mini dachshunds and several indoor cats just got big grins on their faces. Now, 9 years later, I'm happy to report that the carpets have survived in pretty good shape thanks to Oxiclean. I have been using Oxiclean in my Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5914-900 alone, with no other products added and it has done an AMAZING job of keeping my carpets clean. I used to use it along with a liquid cleaner made for the machine but after a while I wondered, "Why leave all that soap residue from the carpet cleaner when Oxiclean leaves almost none?" That was especially true in my case where certain high traffic areas get steam cleaned much more often than the carpet manufacturers recommend. Now I use only the Oxiclean and it does an excellent job. I don't miss the (expensive) carpet cleaning liquid at all.
I've removed dried-on Cabernet from the same off-white carpeting after a few spots that I missed initially had dried overnight. Afterwards I couldn't even tell they were there. (The guest that spilled the wine was horrified and is now a faithful Oxi user). I use it in my wash to get out the tough organic stains and to keep synthetic fabrics from getting that gray cast to them. Even our old white things look bright and clean. We use it outdoors on the patio (It also gets rid of pet odors) and it doesn't hurt the plants that are nearby. I pretty much use it for everything except grease which it doesn't really remove. It's also a little slippery on ceramic or porcelain tile floors until it dries so I don't really use it there except to get out really tough stains. If you make it into a paste it works pretty well on grout though.
One thing you need to remember is to mix it with really hot water to fully dissolve it. I didn't notice this when I first bought the product. It "expands" when you add it to hot water, so don't put it into a spray bottle or it may burst. We use a bottle like this 12-oz. Squeeze Bottles 3 pk. - Clear for spot cleaning. The ones we have have an Oxiclean logo but I can't find them on Amazon. After being mixed with water it loses it's "oomph" after about 6 hours and should be discarded. As much as we use it around here, this big box lasts about a year because it doesn't take very much to achieve great results. For small spot cleaning when you don't want to mix up a whole bottle, this Church & Dwight Co 51693 Oxi Clean Laundry Stain Remover product works great. I says it's for laundry but it works great for carpet stains, better than the product they advertise for carpets. It works great on pet "accidents" and gets rid of odor too.
