I have owned Wahl, Andis and Conair clippers before and I have been cutting my own hair for over ten years now. I can honestly say that I am sorry that I haven't purchased Oster sooner. Just by holding them in your hands you can feel the superior quality. The difference in quality is confirmed after cutting yout hair. They may a little more expensive than regular clippers but they will pay for themselves. The only drawback is the lack of a plastic case that you would get with other clippers. This clipper is not quiet at all it is actually quite loud. Sounds like a coffee grinder. It is louder than my Conair clipper. I was hoping to get a quiet one to cut my kids hair so they would not be afraid of it but now I'm stuck with it cause my kids tore the box. If I could do it over I would probably go to my local Sally's and have them turn it on to see how loud it is. It it does cut more evenly than my Conair so I don't feel as bad being stuck with it.
