This is wonderful. I've used it many times already to check my children's ears when in doubt about an ear infection. It has saved us needless trips to the doctor. The included diagrams are very helpful. I also was able to use it to spot and remove an object my son stuck in his ear--a spitball! No wonder he complained his ear was itchy! Pulled out the otoscope and checked his ear--then I got the spitball out! Wonderful.Product Review: Great for the price - Our pediatrician was impressed!

I got this after my daughter had serial ear infections and then PE tubes that got clogged. I had to be able to tell when to take her to the doctor for ear pain or not. I had the pediatrician show me how to use it and he was really impressed with what it could do and with the diagrams that came with it. He suggested keeping the batteries full so the light is as bright as can be. He liked that you could see the ear drum clearly and that it was a reasonable cost. He had other patients he was going to recommend purchase this item because it could be really helpful and he encouraged me to use it. I've used it a number of times now and it's saved quite a few trips to the doctors office! Definitely a good purchase for those with kids who have chronic ear problems.Product Review: Works Quite Nicely on Cats!

I can see my cat's ear drums with no problem with this which is a good thing because before you put ANYTHING into your pets ear you need to ensure the ear drum is intact lest you cause IRREPAIRABLE damage. An ear that looks healthy on the outside is not necessarily healthy on the inside. Only with an otoscope can you make that determination.
I was able to look in one of my cats ears and find ear mites (they are gross...little yellow bugs that crawl around on the wax) and know that I needed to get some ear mite medicine. This saves me on vet bills!
And seeing human ear drums? No sweat! It's as easy as pie.

I have had the Dr. Mom otoscope for three years and have never had a problem seeing in my daughters' ears. As infants, I can look in the ear while I'm nursing them and as they are older, I can look while they are asleep if they are sound asleep, or if I can distract them with the TV enough then they hold very still while sitting. I don't feel like I'm going too deep into the ear at all and can see to the eardrum very well. The key is pulling the ear back a little (sometimes up and back) to get a clear view of the eardrum through the canal without going very deep. I've saved a lot of trips to the doctor because of this thing, and I've known when to go when things start to look bad.
