Product Reviews of Oral-B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart GuideProduct Review: FANTASTIC!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I've never had an electric toothbrush before this one and now I will never go back to a manual one. The Triumph has so many great features....wish I would have bought it sooner!
Product Review: Fabulous Tooth Brush! Summary: 5 Stars
This toothbrush is amazing. I had an Oral B electric toothbrush before this one that I absolutely loved, and I doubted that any product would be better than that one. But the features on this product are so logical and have been extremely helpful to me. I learned almost immediately that I had not been brushing my teeth long enough, the sensor on the LED screen rewards you with a happy face when you brush for 2 minutes and the face winks at you when you brush for 2.5 minutes. I find myself looking forward to that smile everyday. It has options for sensitive teeth that are nice and the unit itself is completely waterproof and practical. I brush in the shower without any problems. It is loud at first, but not so loud as to be annoying. I think this item is great and I plan to buy one for my family members soon.

Battery life could be longer.
Overview
I bought this system when my dental hygienist suggested it because of my lazy brushing habits and slow brush replacement time (what you're supposed to replace your tooth brush?). I had 6 crowns and one root canal in one visit so enough is enough.
The first few times I used this system my gum's bleed but to be honest I haven't brushed very well in the past and this system gives your mouth a real workout.
My teeth continue to feel like I have just come from a cleaning at the dentist so that's what I'm looking for.
I hate brushing and the work of brushing and with this system you just place it more or less against your teeth and gums and it does all the work for you. The timing device really works well to let you know when to change to another quadrant of your teeth as I always had trouble timing how long I was brushing.
I will continue to update this review as time goes on and I continue to use the system and see if it's true what the hygienist says that she will have very little work to do with my 6 month checkup.
9-9-2008 update:
My gum's have totally gotten used to this toothbrush now and I have found that if I just leave the brush in the charger the battery charge is more then good enough. I am very pleased with my purchase.
Product Review: First time electric brush user Summary: 5 Stars
This oral b toothbrush is AMAZING! It almost feels like walking out of the dentist after leaving my restroom. This is something manual brushing definitely cannot do. I bought this on [...] for [...] dollars when they had their anniversary sale. This is worth every penny.
Product Review: Funnest, geekiest elec toothbrush ever Summary: 5 Stars
Got this unit direct from my dentist (Sorry amazon) with a ton of rebates. I've just come off using the Philips Soniccare, which I loved, but it was quite old with the batteries wearing out and Costco no longer stocking the replacements for this older model. Was going to get the newer Soniccare, but the rebate deal offered made this a "oh, no matter what, this is good value" deal.
But, I'm just about sold. The toothbrush itself is perfectly effective. Quite noisier than the soniccare, and a little bit of a less solid feel against the mouth, since it has more moving parts because of needing to change the oscillation motion from one axis into another. That's about the only downside to this Oral-B.
The HUGE upside is the smart guide. Even with the soniccare's timing system, I found myself being less and less rigid about brushing each area for the required 30 seconds. The smart guide is a great reminder of "you should be brushing this segment now, and now THIS segment". As long as you can just "give in" to the display, you'll get your mouth clean. But the REAL feature is that, if you brush for an extra 30 seconds - like all the "problem" areas, the display goes from a nice smily face to a big happy grin, or winking, or some other combination. Totally random. I can see this totally being a huge attraction to kids - or fun loving adults - to see what combination will come up next. Whoever came up with that idea needs a freaking medal.
The power supply and inductive charging stand are nicely low profile, multiple voltage (Soniccare wasn't), easily transportable. Internal battery is NiMH ( Li-Ion or a supercap would have been nicer ), and charges from empty pretty quickly (about 2 hours). The smart guide needn't be transported - you still get the "timing pauses" when the display isn't around. Smart Guide doubles as a clock, too (with 24 hour time option, no less).
Really great device. I would not have minded paying the amazon price for this at all.
