Product Reviews of Oral B Triumph 9900 Toothbrush with Smart GuideProduct Review: Compared to the Ultreo leaves alot to be desired Summary: 3 StarsI just bought the Oral B because the company that makes the Ultreo (which I owned) unfortunately went out of business. The replacement brushes were no longer available except I think Amazon had one for $80.00! So I bought the Oral B. Using it is like having a revving motorcycle in your mouth compared to a jaguar-like Ultreo. It is noisy and harsh feeling. Below are some other differences between it and the Ultreo:
1. Oral B-does not light up when on charger --you have to use the smart thingy and stick that on a wall someplace to get the details and operating status of the toothbrush. The ultreo had all of this built-in to the slick handle -- nothing you had to stick on your bathroom wall and it lit up orange to show you charge status, brush status, etc. It also took up much less space with a sleeker design. It had a built-in timer which beeped when it was time to change quadrants. With the Oral B you have to stick the smart add-on on your wall to get the timer. This is not a big deal as I tend to brush longer than recommended -- at least I did because the Ultreo was actually enjoyable to use.
2. The charge plug on the oral-B that goes into the wall socket sticks out about two inches from the wall horizontally. My plug is just inside my bathroom door and everytime I go in or out I end up hitting the plug and knocking it out. It's fairly heavy and lands on my tiled floor with quite a thud. I hope I don't end up breaking it.
All in all, really miss the Ultreo but I guess the Oral B does just a good a job on cleaning and gum care. It just isn't nearly as enjoyable to use as the Ultreo was.
Product Review: Big display and convientent base station / accessories Summary: 5 StarsIt's got a big display that easily mounted to the mirror in the bathroom so I can see it to know if I am brushing too hard and to see the timer.
It is not too heavy, just right. The carrying case is well constructed and has room for two brush heads.
The base has room for four brush heads under the clear cover and was easy to put together, just took a minute. the charging cord has a Velcro loop on it to make the cord nice and neat. the plug is very slender as well so it only occupies one outlet(it sticks out two to three inches) - not like other wall warts.
It has four modes and the brush starts out in the correct mode for the brush head you have attached which is a nice feature.
Product Review: Prefer this to the Sonicare Summary: 5 StarsI bought this about 6 months ago, and I can definitely say I prefer this Oral B toothbrush to my Sonicare. They both clean equally well, but the Oral B is more gentle on my gums, so it's the winner in my book. I do prefer the less bulky nature of the Sonicare, but it's not really that big of a deal. Oh, and the Sonicare is quite a bit quieter. Those are really the only major differences. So far, reliability/quality, etc., are even.
Product Review: 3rd electric toothbrush purchased Summary: 3 StarsI debated over the Oral B and Philips. I had an Oral B a few years ago and then purchased Phillips and it broke after a year. This Oral B does the job, I don't use any of the accessories only the electric brush. I wish I would have purchased the Philips, it's smaller and fits in your mouth better so you can get around your back teeth. Even though I changed the brush more frequently and it only lasted a year, it was worth it. My next purchase will be going back to Philips.
Product Review: Awesome Toothbrush Summary: 5 StarsThis is one awesome toothbrush! I am so glad I bought it. Everytime I brush it feels as if I just came out of the dentist's office. I'd truly recommend it.
