Product Review: Horrible Battery; Good Toothbrush

This toothbrush is great, when it works.

I purchased mine from Amazon and followed the "first time use" instructions (charge it completely). Immediately the next day I noticed that the battery life was low, even though I had it on its stand all day (this is recommended by Oral B). I thought about returning it, but I decided that maybe it wasn't in its stand correctly.

Well, it's been a couple months now and things haven't improved. Sometimes I will pick up the brush when it has full battery power and then it will die while I am brushing. I'm going to have to send it in for service eventually, but I do not want to because of the other review on here that says they are still waiting for their replacement!

According to the booklet, you void the warranty if you open the bottom of the toothbrush to pull out the battery. I'm tempted to do that, since it looks like there is simply an NiMH AA battery inside. But, I will probably send it in.

The LCD display is pretty cool. The 2 minute timer isn't necessary, since it will vibrate after every 30 seconds, signifying that you are either done, or you should switch quadrants of the mouth. The brush warning isn't necessary either--you have to press really hard to activate the warning light. Ironically, I like the LCD display mostly because of the clock feature!

I bought the toothbrush because my dentist recommended it. I have been using it for at least a month now, and it gives great results. My teeth always feel completely clean after brushing because it comes with a timer that guides me on how long I should brush each section of my mouth. It also comes with a polishing brush head, and a cool carrying case. Also, most of the base unit that the toothbrust rests on is dishwasher safe.

This toothbrush is great especially for someone who is lazy like me. I would consider this to be my first electrical toothbrush. What I really like about this this toothbrush is the smart guide. It guides you in a way to where to brush. It basically separates your mouth into four quadrants and you would spend 30 seconds on each quadrants. However, there is one complaint that I have. YOU NEED TO REGULARLY CLEAN THIS THING ONCE A WEEK!!!!!! Let's be honest here. Your mouth contains thousands of bacteria (Especially in the morning when you wake up. Hence, MORNING BREATHE!!!!) Well, if you don't clean the base around it, underneath it, and every other area, some gunk will build up. And that gunk my friends is bacteria!! Overtime, that gunk will emit a nasty sulfur smell. I read nowhere in the reviews that this is a problem but with me it is. Other than that, this brush does great work and keeps your mouth clean.

My dentist recommended that I get an electric toothbrush since I am a hard brusher and my gums were starting to pay the price.

I did a little research and found that this was a well liked model/brand, I especially liked the feature that flashes up a warning symbol when brushing too hard. I hope this little device will "train" me to be more gentle on my gums.

This device is higher than other units out there but how much is too much to spend on your teeth? Think about all the junk you eat everyday (I drink a lot of soda), your teeth need some extra care!!
