Product Reviews of Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein, Vanilla Ice Cream, 1 Pound (Pack of 2)Product Review: Taste Great and mixes well highly recommend Summary: 4 Stars
To begin I want to get the price matter out of the way. I first ordered this product back in December 2010 for 19 bucks and it was actually only 15 bucks if you sign up for the subscription option. Now I see its up to 29 bucks! That tells me I might not be buying the 2 one pound drums and go for the 5 pounder. Ok now to the review. First of all I was using the Twin Lab Protein Powder before this Chocolate flavored which was priced well but when I fully examined the ingredients there were a lot of additives or fillers which lowers the percentage of whey in the product. Thats why I like the Optimum whey so much it truly is one of those better protein powders on the market that is loaded with almost 100% whey protein but there are sweeteners and additives in this one to get that yummy vanilla ice cream flavor. Yet if you want the pure 100% with no additives you can find it on Amazon but its a great deal more expensive then this product. Furthermore the Vanilla Ice cream flavor in my personal opinion has a real nice taste to it nothing to over powering I would describe it as a basic vanilla milk shake flavor not to sweet but just right. Another great thing at least when the price was down to 19 when I started buying this product was that I could drink 2 or three of these shakes a day and its was actually less expensive then say a chicken breast or side salad so these shakes are an adequate snack replacement. Being a novice body builder I really felt that these shakes gave my body what it needed after a workout. I think Optimum provides the best bang for the buck and I will most likely be converting to the five pound drums until the price goes back down on these 1 pound vanilla ice cream tubs. To conclude I believe Optimum makes a top notch product and defiantly gives my body the protein it needs after a grueling workout and as I said these shakes are more of a snack replacement then a meal replacement. Hope this review helped :)
Side-note: I would have given the powder five stars but the 33% price increase in the past month made it lose a star.
Product Review: pleasantly surprised, really liked it. + It's quality Summary: 5 Stars
I don't buy protein powder very often. I've tried a few soy proteins, and this one 10oz can of vanilla protein from the grocery store. Both were really bad. I then tried Syntha-6 chocolate powder, and that was great. I bought this vanilla ice cream flavor because I only wanted two 1-lb packages this time [there was no syntha-6 in 1 lbs), and I was willing to risk the vanilla flavor of a new brand.
It's really tasty. I through it in this miniature nalgene, add some Cinnamon, a bit of honey, and mix together with water (mixes perfectly after I shake the bottle a few times). Its really great. I might go pack to this brand (although likely I'll switch off between the two)
