Product Reviews of Omron HJ-151 Hip Pedometer for Aerobic ActivityProduct Review: More features than HJ-150, same price Summary: 5 Stars
I lost an HJ-150 when it popped off my belt while I was wearing headphones. So first I went to the local sporting goods store and after looking at a another "line" of pedometer, bought a small electronic (rather than pendulum) one. It sucked. It had steps recorded on it that I know I hadn't taken. It goes in your pocket, but it has to be upright. I thought about velcroing it to my belt, but naw, too much trouble.
So I went to Amazon to replace the 150 and saw the 151 at the same price. It not only records steps, but "moderate" steps (i.e. more strenous) and makes guesses about the calories burned, and miles spanned. Yeah, it has one more button, but I can figure it out.
I took a leash off of an old camera and hooked it through the hole on the spring loaded clamp, looping the leash through my belt so it won't go missing. But you can buy a pack of such leashes for like $4.50 or just make one from some low-tech string.
Still not making 10,000 steps regularly, but at least I know it!
Product Review: Motivational Summary: 5 Stars
This pedometer is very easy to set up and use. The display is easy to read and change between functions (total steps, moderate, calories, and distance). It is attractive and fun to use.
I have seen some reviews here which said it was inaccurate. We have found that it sometimes "saves up" steps and adds them a few at a time, but when it does add them, it seems accurate.
My husband wears his on his belt and seems quite comfortable with it, but I usually wear it on a coin pocket because I find it uncomfortable on the waistband.
This simple device has kept up my motivation for walking, just by informing me of how much I have already done. It's fun and encouraging.
Product Review: My Favorite Pedometer Summary: 5 Stars
I've had many pedometers over the years and this is by far the very best! It is easy to set up and use without a lot of extras you don't need. My husband and I have been using this brand for years!
Product Review: My whole office uses this.. pretty good Summary: 5 Stars
As part of the Shape up the Nation initiative, everybody at work got this. Close to 200 employees and each and everyone is pretty happy with this Pedometer. It does quite a few things for the price. We are all pumped up and we are competing with each other almost reaching 20,000 steps a day.
Product Review: Needs a safety leash! Summary: 4 Stars
This was the second and third Omron (HJ-151) Pedometer that I purchased. My first was dropped 2 times and never worked again. The second, I purchased with a safety leash and my girlfriend in Baja, Mexico loved it so much I left it for her and ordered 2 more along with 2 safety leashes, which are NOT encluded. The leashes do not cost much but this time they were shipped from a different place and I had to pay more on the shipping than for the leashes! Omron really should include them in the price as due to the nature of the beast, you will need one to keep it safe.
