Summary: 5 Stars

Very good product I know most people might think it's silly put it makes you want to walk more tells you the miles you walked it has an aerobic section, you don't have to worry about setting it back because it autamatically starts over at 12am each night and it's good to have even for children it would motivate them I think to get involve with excerising.

Product Review: A Basic Pedometer that Works as Advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

A Basic Pedometer that Works as Advertised. The set up is straight forward following the instructions in the manual. It seems to be accurate (At least the readings are consistent for the same walks, and there are no false positive steps when I'm sitting around which was the problem with the last inexpensive pedometer that I got.) Keeping it in a shirt pocket with the clip on is out of the way and conveninent.

Product Review: A FIVE STAR Review After A FIVE MILE Walk! Durable, Accurate-And MORE!
Summary: 5 Stars

It's likely that you're looking at this Omron HJ112 Premium Pedometer because you're either frustrated with previous pedometers that you've owner or you're wanting an honest opinion from someone (just like you) that felt compelled to share a great experience about a great product!

I can't tell you, over the past 5 years, how many pedometers I've owned. I've lost some of them, for no fault other than my own, I've given a couple as gifts and I've "Out Walked" some less durable brands that seemed to give out on me.

I used to be of the opinion that all pedometers are so similar that it didn't matter whether I bought one on sale for $4.99 or whether I asked for a very special one as a Holiday Gift. I was very, very wrong and I'm the first to cough up the truth when it comes to high-quality products and honest reviews.

I'm not an Olympic Athlete, nor am I an avid 10 mile per day speed walker. It happens that I have a really bad lower back and other exercises that cause stress on my body, especially my lower back, are simply out of the question. Walking and swimming are the two exercises that I have found to be the most beneficial and the least damaging to my body. Why would anyone choose an athletic activity that caused their body stress or injury? Even at 37, I'm more concerned about good aerobic exercise than I am high-impact sports. And, as we all know, the rewards from walking are incredible.

The Omron HJ112 Premium Pedometer was a treat to myself. And if anyone is out there that needs any of my old pedometers-just drop me an email. However, I'd STILL suggest that you purchase the Omron, which offers the latest and greatest of all possible features and technology that anyone could EVER dream of having. This unit literally has everything you could possibly want in a New Pedometer.

Would you believe that even if you were able to walk upside down, this incredible and slick unit would STILL be able to calculate everything from steps walked to distance walked to calories burned. And if you're a walker who like to jog from time to time-this handy dandy unit can distinguish easily between the two and produce results for the 2 different activities.

I can't stand bulky items when walking or jogging and the Omron Pedometer is so lightweight that you'll often forget that you're even using any device to record your activity. I'm pretty sure I've played around with most of the features, but I'd not be too surprised if it had the capacity to fry me some bacon and eggs after my long morning run! And if you're on the Atkins Diet or another High-Protein/Low Carb Diet, that slab of bacon and those fried eggs would be just perfect after a nice workout!

Honestly, my friends, if you're going to spend money on a good pedometer, please take a good look at the many features that are standard with this unit. I've dropped it several times and even left it to roast in the 115 Degree Arizona (many times) without ever having a problem. Accuracy, durability and practicality pretty much sum up the most important aspects of the Omron HJ112 Pedometer. It even comes complete with extra goodies (a nice strap, etc.) and a warranty that is unsurpassed.

Happy Walking to All of You! Thanks for reading my honest and personal review of this incredible pedometer from Omron. Feel free to contact me if you have ANY questions at all. You'll be SO happy with your purchase-trust me.

Sincerely,

Peter Vincent Cannice

Product Review: A GREAT PEDOMETER
Summary: 5 Stars

After much shopping and review reading, I gave my best friend this pedometer for her birthday. She told me she was going to try to start walking more to get more exercise, so counting steps seemed a good idea.
Together we read the instructions -- very easy to follow -- and were amazed that it said an average number of steps a day could be over 12,000.
After her first day of just slipping it into her pocket and taking her Omron wherever she went, she called to say she'd walked over 10,000 steps. Surprise!
She loves this pedometer. I did good in the gift-giving department.
Now I am going to have to buy an identical one for myself!

Product Review: A Good First Step
Summary: 5 Stars

The hardest part of set up was installing the battery using the oddly shaped "screwdriver" included with the pedometer. Fortunately the only thing holding the battery compartment cover was one little screw.

Once you've got juice, it's time to set the time, input your weight, and set the stride length. The owner's manual suggests taking ten steps, measuring the entire distance, and dividing by ten to get a stride length. Thoughtfully included in the manual for the numerically impaired is a handy conversion chart with important facts like: 12 inches = 1 foot, and 24 inches = 2 feet, and so on.

Once all the numbers are plugged in, you can use to Mode button to access your stats. Right now, for example, the pedometer shows the current time and number of steps taken today -4,006. No, it hasn't been a good walking day. I press the mode button and the aerobic screen is displayed with all the numbers set to zero. Now I can do some fast aerobic walking and get a separate step/calorie number. Too bad I'm busy writing at the moment. I press the mode button again and see that my 4,000 steps have burned all of 142 calories. That's depressing and discouraging. I press the mode button one more time and see that those 4,000 steps are the equivalent of 2.08 miles. One last press of the mode button brings us back to the original screen.

The memory button is great for those who forget to write down the daily numbers. Kept in the pedometer's memory are the steps, calories, and distance stats for the previous seven days. My best day this past week is 7,000 steps, not even close to my goal of 10,000 steps daily. Maybe tomorrow I'll hit the big 10K, but even if I don't, just having this pedometer and sticking with the routine of wearing it and checking the numbers is good motivation. The numbers are also a concrete way to check progress, or in my case, lack of it.

Accuracy

I've counted steps mentally quite a few times to test the Omron and have found it to be very true to form. I did discover that the pedometer doesn't count steps as accurately when I'm wearing my loose fitting, slip on clogs. The Omron also seems to be most accurate when carried on my belt with the belt clip compared to carrying it in a front pocket. Omron advises against carrying the pedometer in one's back pocket.

Perfect accuracy is not a major concern of mine. No pedometer will be completely accurate because one's stride is not always consistent. All I really care about is comparing the number of steps taken day to day. For me, the calorie numbers and daily mileage are just curiosities, nothing more.

Endurance - I'd need another instrument to keep track of all the times I've dropped this pedometer, many times on hard surfaces. There are battle scars on the clear lens, but this little instrument just keeps on ticking.
