Product Reviews of Omron HEM-790IT Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with Advanced Omron Health Management SoftwareProduct Review: Good Unit... Summary: 4 StarsSo far, so good. Had the unit about a month and am pleased. The 2 person software tracking combined with the "A/B" switch on the unit allows easy separate monitoring. Price seems a little high given the almost all plastic construction. Cuff is comfortable. Downloads to PC via USB work fine and quick. Negatives: (1) AC cord is very short and does NOT provide any recharging of the batteries. (2) PC software is NOT Vista compatible and there does not appear to be, at this time, any free upgrade option.
Product Review: Omron HEM 790IT BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR Summary: 4 StarsEveryone in the family is using it . Easy to us .
Only 1 problem I can see NOT MADE IN THE USA !
Product Review: Easy to use BP monitor Summary: 4 Stars This device is very easy to use. The display is large and easily read. Wrap the cuff around your upper arm as directed, press a button, relax, and let the meter do its thing. The cuff provided with this meter will fit my 19" circumference arm. If the cuff is not properly positioned the meter will stop with an error. I am confident this meter will produce reasonably accurate readings every time. I like the monitors ability to take 3 readings in succession and average them to produce a final reading.
The only negative comment I have relates to the included Health Management Software. The software is very poorly written. The charting and report printouts are confusing and difficult to interpret. The displayed and printed output has very limited options for resizing and formatting the graphs to make them more readable.
I highly recommend this monitor. The included software not so great. If you do not want/need to track your readings on a computer save a few bucks and purchase the Omron HEM-780. (Same features without the computer interface)
Product Review: Better than most Summary: 4 StarsThis is our third BP monitor. The first was a wrist type, the second a Relion cuff type. This works better than the first two, but still has a way to go before getting 5 stars.
1. The cuff is difficult to fasten unless you have help. I finally found that placing the cuff on the elbow joint, then sliding it up works best.
2. The software can be flakey. At first, we had to start the software (running Vista Home on a 2.4g Quad core) before connecting the usb cable to the device. If we did not do this, the software would not start. After changing compatability settings in Vista, it works fine.
Overall, a good monitor and the ability to download and print a record is a plus.
Product Review: Great Blood Pressure Management Tool Summary: 5 StarsI've been using the Omron HEM-790IT Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor for a little more than one month and have been very impressed with its ease of use. I particularly appreciate the large numerals on the monitor display.
The real power of the HEM-790IT comes from its ability to record blood pressure measurements for later transfer to a home computer. The supporting software is intuitive and downloading of data from the blood pressure monitor works smoothly. Several different data graph styles help make sense of blood pressure readings collected over time.
I also use the Omron HJ-720IT pedometer which records walking steps that can be downloaded for review by the same software package as the Blood Pressure Monitor.
The two devices compliment each other to provide a convenient way to track the benefits of a walking exercise program.
