Product Review: Accurate, easy to use. Love the multi-user mode.

We've had this blood pressure monitor for 2 years now. It still works great and is in good shape. Both my husband and I have brought the machine into our doctor appointments so they could compare the unit reading to their BP reading. This machine seems to match fairly well, so I'd say it's accurate enough over long term use. However, I will say that sometimes I can get a reading that just seems nuts. If I take my BP again, the reading will seem more "normal" for me. Not sure why it occasionally has out of whack readings.
The HEM-780 has a feature we really like - the 2 user mode. There is a slide switch above the start/stop switch which allows you to record the BP reading for 2 different users. This means my husband and I can use the machine without getting confused on which reading is which - even better when you take into account the large memory this unit has. I usually let our BP readings store up for a while and then copy them over to a spreadsheet to chart our BP over time. Very helpful for tracking long term trends.
This unit does not eat batteries (we use the rechargeable "Sanyo Eneloop" batteries), they seem to last a reasonably long time. Another plus.
So, easy to use, fairly accurate, good battery usage - I definitely recommend.
Product Review: After three days - only errors

I am returning the product as it only worked for three days. After that, every time I tried to take a reading, I got the big "E". Also, it seemed to read extrememly high. My husband has normal blood pressure and when we tried it on him, it came back 178/121. Uh, no way! That surely doesn't help when I am trying to monitor mine to be sure it doesn't go too low or too high. The doc just started me on medication three weeks ago. I found that to get a three reading average, by the time I was able to get all three readings I was so frustrated, my pressure was going through the roof! Of course that could have to do with the artificially high readings it was returning anyway. lol It was very easy to use, but ease isn't going to be much good if it isn't accurate. I'm looking for another brand even if it costs me a little more.Product Review: Amazing delivery time

You can read up on this product and I would agree that it does as it should very well. OK, a product is as good as it says, which should impress me, but what really started me off for a positive review is the speed of delivery. It came less than 12 hours after making the order and there was no delivery fee! That's right, no extra cost. Now that is service. No doubt the supplier was near by, but even if it were next door, I would have expected a day or so for the order to fully process. Do not buy from Amazon. I got the product yesterday and when I opened the package, the instrument had scratches and clearly an used item. When I called the customer service, they did not care about sending an used item and finally I have to return the product. Amazon is shipping the used product for the second time (once for the Plantronics Voyager 510 bluetooth headset). I cancelled my Amazon Prime membership but they deducted the $20 from membership fee. Recently my wife was told by her physician that her blood pressure readings were "suspicious" though inconsistent. He recommended that she procure a blood pressure monitor.
I did some research on the web in general and Amazon in particular and I chose this Omron HEM-780 Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor with ComFit Cuff.
We have had it now since April 2009 and we are both very pleased with it. The directions are easy to follow and the machine is easy to use. It works well both on AC power and batteries.
Unlike the negative reports of a few other reviewers, our experience with it has been 100% positive. My wife has used the machine three or four times a day every day since we received it and it continues to work perfectly. I will admit that she takes very good care of the machine and is careful both in inserting and removing the connections as well as in applying the cuff. She also is careful about packing it away in its case each and every time she uses it. It may be that some others have not been quite as scrupulous in their maintenance of the machine.
But it is a precision instrument and thus deserves the very best of care.
I delayed writing this review until my wife could take it to her physician's office to compare its readings with the readings the physician's staff obtained. I am happy to report that the systolic reading was within 10 points (the machine was 10 points lower) and the diastolic reading was exactly the same.
Now a 10 point difference is not significant; the machine averages three readings whereas the physician takes only one. Plus the measurement can easily change that much within the couple of minutes it takes to obtain both readings.
The physician told my wife that he was satisfied with the readings the machine provided.
And the best news is that he told my wife that she does NOT have high blood pressure.
I am glad that we purchased this machine and I recommend it to all. I further recommend that anyone buying it buy it from Amazon. Not only will you get their great service, you'll also get their great price.
On the same day I ordered it I saw this machine in our local CVS/Pharmacy for $109.99; Amazon's price, at the time, was $49.85!
