Product Review: A Life-saver --- My husband's!

We had an older Omron Blood Pressure model for years, so we knew of "Omron" quality. I decided to update to the auto-inflate model which is more convenient as well as more accurate. My husband has high blood pressure which is under control with medication, but still he does a monthly check to make sure his pressure is okay. One morning at the breakfast table he said that he felt weak and had a fainting spell during the night. I immediately took his blood pressure using our new Omron monitor which showed a normal reading for his blood pressure, but his pulse reading was extremely high. His doctor, when I called, ordered us to go to the Hospital emergency room immediately where it was discovered that he had a bleeding ulcer and ordered surgery immediately as well as a blood transfusion. Had we not had our Omron, I hate to imagine what might had happened. Omron is a great product, and we'll always have one!Product Review: A Waste of Time

One gets the impression from other customer reviews of the HEM-711AC that it's a fine little machine if you read the instructions and use it properly. I made sure to do so, and was taken aback when my blood pressure readings were considerably higher than they'd ever been. I called customer service and had a nice chat in which the agent assured me that Omron's products were carefully checked before being put on the market, but that it was possible they might be damaged in shipping. She sent me instructions for returning the unit to Omron: I would be liable for shipping and a service charge. I wrote back: You've sold me a defective product, and now you want me to pay you to take it back? Omron replied: Well, okay, just this once we'll pay for the shipping. I sent the unit back to Amazon instead. Before I did, I visited the my doctor to confirm the Omron's readings were inaccurate. Systolic was off by about 10%, but diastolic was grossly high. My concern is that (1) my experience was not anomalous; and (2) that a lot of people will be needlessly (and expensively) alarmed by blood pressure readings that are way off the mark.Product Review: A good reliable product

I ordered this blood pressure monitor for my mother. It is simple to use, with both battery and AC connection, and gives her the peace of mind when she's not feeling just right and wonders if it might be her blood pressure. I purchased another unit years ago and it was much less reliable than this one, it's perfect!
