Product Reviews of Omron Body Fat Monitor and ScaleProduct Review: Great scale! Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this scale for about almost a month now and I've used it consistently every morning. It's very reliable (I usually weigh myself 2 or 3 times consecutively just to make sure I'm getting an accurate reading); it usually only varies by .2 pounds (if any) on consecutive weigh-ins, and the most it has ever varied was .4. It's really user-friendly, easy to set up, and pretty good looking to boot. As with any electronic scale, using it on a hard, level surface is obviously important to obtaining an accurate reading. I was a little wary of body fat monitors in scales in general before buying this one, but it actually seems to be pretty accurate from what I can tell. I haven't had my body fat measured in a while, so it's hard to say whether the percentage is right, but it definitely seems to be moving in the right direction (down!) and is extremely consistent. I also like that it gives you your BMI as well... handy feature. All in all, I highly recommend this scale, especially for the price... I feel like to get something comparable you would have to pay almost twice as much with other brands. It's great!

Omron HBF-400 Body Fat Monitor and Scale
This unit keeps all of your data in one location. Price-wise, this seems like an excellent value. The cost of a high-quality scale added to the price of a decent body-fat monitor will be more than the price of this one unit.
Product Review: HBF-500 is a great BIA scale, but you need to be consistent. Summary: 5 Stars
The scale works very well, I have been tracking my diet progress and the scale has been invaluable within the limits of bio electric impedance technology. With any BIA scale one must think of the values as relative. If the scale shows a % body fat of 30% you should not assume you have exactly 30% body fat. If, however, you use the scale consistently over 2 weeks and the trend is from 30% to 28% with most days showing a small drop in body fat %, you can be pretty sure that you are losing fat. The reverse would also be true. The numbers can be used to determine if you have stopped losing fat as long as you look at the trend over several days. The day to day numbers will very up and down, it is the trend over several days that is important. The % skeletal muscle and Visceral Fat numbers should also be treated in the same way.
As to using the scale. I found that the numbers fluctuated over the day but if I followed a few rules, the numbers were fairly consistent. I drink a few cups of water before I go to bed and then weight myself first thing in the morning after emptying my bladder. I found that the numbers were consistent over any 3-4 day period.
I also found that the when I modified my workouts to add weightlifting the % skeletal muscle trended up over a week or two.
As long as you don't get hung up on the specific numbers, maintain good hydration the scale will be good for monitoring the trending of your body composition, regardless of age and conditioning. The most important thing is constancy in use.
Product Review: Highly recommend Summary: 5 Stars
For a price not much more than a digital scale that just shows weight, this scale "does it all." Other reviewers have described in great detail this scale's features. Just be sure to take the 5 minutes to read the instruction manual. If you want to track your measurements keep a small notebook handy.
Product Review: If you're athletic or fit---won't work for you! Summary: 2 Stars
Consistently inaccurate with body fat measurements. The device is sensitive to electrical currents so I made sure not to be around the microwave, etc. But even doing that, I'd still get wacky numbers. Taken a few seconds apart from different locations in my room, I'd get body fat measurements 3-4 percentages off from each other.
I'm a very fit and healthy individual. I bought this to keep an eye on my stats. I know how to weigh myself (not after meals, showers, etc.). I also understand that calipers are more accurate, but this scale shouldn't be SO far off--especially for $60+. Booo.
