Product Reviews of the Obus Forme by Conair Ergonomic Orthopedic Ultimate Backrest with Heat and Massage, BlackProduct Review: Not enough product info to make purchase decision... Summary: 1 StarsI gave this one star because I have not ordered it yet. I needed more info before making a purchase decision--Amazon seems to be slacking in this area on a lot of their listings lately. I was not interrested in purchasing a battery operated backrest.
I found this product info on another website that may be helpful to others evaluating this product for purchase: Includes an AC adapter and a car adapter that plugs into 12 volt vehicle cigarette lighters.
Update 10-13-2007: I purchased the Obus Forme wide backrest and was so pleased with it (as a reading pillow), I thought I would try this one--the heat and massage were the draw.
The air adjustment on this backrest is not as comfortable as I had hoped. Filling with air does enhance the massage/vibration feature though. Both this backrest and the wide backrest are too thick for comfort in my small car--they effectively shorten the seat length making sitting uncomfortable. However, the ultimate backrest is smaller and seems to take up less room than the wide back (no frills) model.
The heat in this backrest is nice, but doesn't have an adjustment for temperature control--on or off--those are your choices. The vibration has four quadrants that alternate in six selectable patterns. The upper right quadrant of our backrest stopped working after only a few times of use. The vibration has a pulse mode that neither my husband nor myself found pleasant.
This backrest does not work well as a reading pillow. We found it fit best in the recliner. I like the heat and the vibration. However, my husband is not impressed with this product. He said he preferred the massage backrest we tried at Costco.
Since the vibration node in the upper right quadrant quit working almost immediately, this item will be returned and I will leave the rating at one star.
