Spirulina is an excellent green food for many reasons, and the NOW Foods brand of Organic Spirulina Powder is excellent in the health benefits, form, smell and taste. One of my favorite spirulina smoothies combines 1 cup chocolate almond milk (90 calories) + 1 TBL NOW Foods Spirulina (25 calories) + 1 cup ice + 1/2 TSP Powdered Konjac Fiber + Sweetener (Xylitol and/or Stevia) to taste. Blend ingredients in a blender until smooth. I like mine on the sweet side so I used 2 to 3 TBL of xylitol, or 1 TBL xylitol + stevia. The powdered konjac fiber is optional, but it gives the smoothie a creamy consistency like restaurant shakes. This recipe makes a smoothie of about 16 ounces that is less than 125 calories and low in sugar and fat. The color of the smoothie is still very green ... but also very delicious. I will continue to re-order this product and recommend it to others.
