I wasn't sure how this thing would work, but I've owned it for a few months now and I'm very pleased so far.
There are a few things to know before buying this alarm clock:
1. Don't buy the more expensive version (white) with the nature sounds, they are very bad quality and will not aid in your falling asleep.
2. This alarm will not magically decrease the amount of sleep your body needs! On nights that I get sufficient sleep, I'll often wake up before the completion of the "sunrise". Nights that I don't get to bed early enough result in me waking up to the beep of this alarm, which by the way, is about as pleasant as an alarm clock beep could effectively be.
The Good:
Wake up feeling like a champion!
Works great as a reading light
Sunset cycle really does make me tired
The back up beep doesn't inspire 6AM panic like some alarms I have
After you set it once, it's easy to program
The Bad:
Price seems too high, but you'll use it every day so weigh your options.
Programmed sounds/speaker is really bad, don't buy that model (I did).
Final recommendations: Buy it. Starting a morning off feeling refreshed is well worth the $
