Customer Review: Cheap, but serviceable

You get what you pay for. It looks good, but it's probably going to arrive broken. The 'tap to activate' "feature" works very poorly. There's a small disc of metal that is supposed to bend to make close a circuit and activate the scale. The wire soldered to this disc was completely broken off which is unsurprising if you open it up and have a look. Reliable this arrangement is not. However, if you don't mind undoing about a dozen screws it's easy to fix with a piece of tape, just bend the metal disc closer (but not so close as to always touch the capacitor bent over the side of the board) and tape on the broken wire. It takes a bit of jiggling to get it taped/bent in the right spot, but once it's there it'll probably stick for a decent amount of time. Moisture from the shower will probably make the tape un-stick after some time so be prepared to do it again.
Once you get it working, the scale does seem pretty consistent with its readings. Repeated measurements varied by about 0.4 lbs.
