Product Review: Not the most rugged scale ever made

When it works, it's pretty good. However, given the very poor wall-mounting bracket and the barely-there way it holds the scale, mine fell 6 inches to the counter as I was putting it away. Now it only works if I remove the batteries and power it on, then weigh everything before the auto-off feature kicks in. Otherwise I get an error message.
In theory it's useful if you have limited counter space, but all things considered - the terribly insecure wall hinge, the fragility of it - you'd be better off spending your cash on a simple, more sturdy countertop model.
Lastly, the thermostat is not accurate. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but it's fairly useless.

I couldn't be happier with this scale! I have recently had gastric bypass surgery and bought this to weigh the tiny portions (1-2 ounces).
Number one best feature: readout is above the scale. All of the other scales I saw had the readout at the bottom - putting it underneath the plate/food you are trying to weigh!
Number two best feature: It folds for easy storage. Slides right in to a drawer. The base is glass, so I'm not sure how it would travel, but it seems pretty thick and sturdy.
Number three best feature: easily goes between ounces and grams. This isn't even something I thought I'd need, but it turns out that things like egg substitute is listed in grams on the nutrition label (1 serving is = to 61g).
That leads to the 4th best feature: easy to weigh other items! So I weigh my egg in grams and now I want to add an ounce of ham. I don't have to dirty another dish. Just zero out the eggs, switch to ounces and add the ham.
I highly recommend this scale!

I love this scale! It helps me control my portion size and takes about 2 seconds to measure something out. I also like when I keep a dish on the scale and it turns off, you can turn it back on and it will weight "0" with the dish, so you don't have to do any math for the weight of the dish. Though it's simple math, it just makes it that much easier. I don't have it mounted, but it folds and I tuck it behind my drying rack when not in use. This is a beautiful addition to my kitchen: sleek, slim & efficient. My only objection is that it doesn't stand well when folded, which was the main reason I wanted it. It really does need to either be open all the time or mounted on a wall -- neither of which is an option for me. I have to lean it against the wall or something else when it's folded. A food scale is one of the most useful weapons in the battle of the bulge. To be effective in portion control, however, it has to be readily available for use many times each day. Counter top space is premium real estate in many kitchens, but a scale stored in a drawer is often an unused device.
This unit solves the problem by mounting neatly on the wall where it is always handy, but flips up easily into a storage position so it's out of the way. I love it.
