I've been using this for about a year now and I have'nt had one cold! I was using a pricey prescription for nasal congestion, and someone suggested a neti, so I bought the neti and a bottle of neti wash plus w/ zinc, and its one of the best buys I've made! I use it daily and I've not had a cold or congestion problem since
Product Review: It Really Does Work Summary: 5 Stars
For all those plagued by sinus-related problems: try this solution with a quarter teaspoon of salt in a neti pot. I am one who used to be sick throughout the winter. But since using this product and this method, I have not been sick. It really does work.
Product Review: Love this stuff. After much shopping, it's cheapest here on Amazon. Summary: 5 Stars
First of all, I must say that the Neti Pot is pure genius. At first a little bizzar and a bit gross but folks, IT WORKS! I discovered Neti Wash Plus by happenstance surfing the internet. This stuff is a fantastic complement to the plain salty water. For me, it gives a soothing effect to my nose with a pleasant aroma. The herbal oils inside claim to be good for the nose and the added zinc aids in preventing colds. You can get the Neti Wash without zinc but only in the 2oz bottle and it costs more than the Neti Wash w/zinc in the 4oz bottle. Using once a day, a 4oz bottle will last several months. I've searched all over for the lowest price and so far, Amazon's Neti Wash Plus with zinc in the 4oz bottle is the best deal going.
Product Review: Nasal Wash eases Stuffy Noses Summary: 4 Stars
I was skeptical but decided to try this product. I suffered from a constant stuffy nose. Using this product with a Neti pot daily for several weeks cleared my nose. Now I only need the unstuff my nose once every one to two weeks.
Product Review: Neti Wash Plus (with Zinc) has kept me almost antibiotic-free for three years. Summary: 5 Stars
When I was a kid, I kept a supply of Comtrex at the ready year-round, because of allergies and the resulting sinus infections. As the years went by, I went through all the remedies conventional medicine could come up with--antihistamines, steroidal sprays, prednisone pills taken like candy. You name it, I took it. Eventually NasaCortAQ and Flonase could keep problems at bay, but they have their own side effects which, ultimately, seem to cause me to breathe poorly.
Then, in January 2007, I purchased a Neti Pot. Using it daily, I was able to get off all maintenance medications. But from time to time, I still had to take a round or two or three of antibiotics. When I finally found an integrative M.D., she pointed me to Varcho Veda (Himalayan Institute) Neti Wash Plus with Zinc. She told me that when things get bad and I might have gone to the doctor for medicine, use this product.
And it worked! I have had one round of antibiotics in the past three years and I've used three or four bottles of this stuff intermittently. Friends and family can attest that my sense of smell is just as keen as ever (though I often wonder if that's a curse). In short, I've seen no evidence of any zinc related problems.
In fact, I hadn't even heard about the Great Zinc Scare until I tried to re-order some Neti Wash Plus. I ordered some and received what I thought was the wrong product. It was labeled "Neti Wash Plus," but it didn't contain zinc and was filled with a bunch of nasty herbal stuff that made me sneeze all day long the one time I tried it (I later tried it again to confirm that it was the culprit).
I researched and could find nothing about why the product was reformulated. I tried to find the real product all over the place, to no avail. Finally, I called the Himilayan Institute and though they agree that it is a great product, they had to reinvent it due to some sort of Zicam/zinc problem. I was told that the zinc used in Zicam was quite different from that used in Neti Wash, but they still reformulated, begrudgingly I think.
I did find a few bottles of the good stuff from their warehouse and purchased many post haste. I suggest you do, too, as this is a miracle product (as is the Neti Pot alone).
Let us hope the storm passes and they get to go back to the Zinc-containing product soon.
