Product Reviews of NeilMed's Sinus Rinse Pre-Mixed Packets, 100-Count Boxes (Pack of 2)Product Review: NeliMed sinus Rinse for Nettie Pot Summary: 5 Stars
Short review: These packets are the perfect blend of salt and other ingredients that you add to the water in a nettie pot. These things really do work. I have serious sinus issues every spring and I use these packets daily during this season. My sinus's are clean, pollen is flushed out and so is the extra mucus. I really can say I breathe better now that I started using this product.
I used to mix my own mixture up, it honestly is not hard to do, but almost every time I made it, there was a slight discomfort when passing the water through my nasal passage. These packets are precision measured to ensure that the saline formula in your pot is consistant every time.
Product Review: Not All Created Equal Summary: 5 Stars
I second the praise others have left for nasal rinsing in general. I suffer from severe allergies, and this has helped orders of magnitude more than anything else. If your nose is so clogged that your antihistamine spray can't work properly, this is the product for you.
It also helps tremendously in the allergen avoidance department. I love being outdoors, but am highly allergic, so I do an extra rinse after a hike and it hardly has time to affect me, when I used to have a huge post-hike crash.
I want to add a word about NeilMed packets specifically. I bought a box of store brand refills thinking it couldn't be any different. I was completely wrong. The store brand was uncomfortable in my nose, and left a bad taste in my mouth that ruined the flavor of food all day for me. I threw out the rest of the box and bought NeilMed refills. They are very comfortable in my nose, and leave only a slight tear-like salty taste in my mouth, if any, which quickly dissipates and doesn't ruin the taste of food at all.
Product Review: Not the same as SinuCleanse Summary: 3 Stars
I have been using the SinuCleanse salts for some time now. I love salt packets because they make the netipot process so much simpler, so I'm willing to put out the money. The NeilMed salts were the only ones available at my local drugstore, so I bought them in lieu of my usual. I find these salts are much harsher on my nose, even though they say a single packet is the "isotonic," milder washing dose. SinuCleanse recommends using a half packet of their salts in this case (also reduces the salty irritation), but when I tried this with the NeilMed salts, my sinuses got totally swollen! I wish they had written the ratio of salt to baking soda on the box like other salt packets, but I guess this is "patented" by the company.
Product Review: Quality of life increase Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this product for 6 years. I use it daily. It cleans my sinus passages. It never ceased to amaze me what I flush out when the air is bad. I use it with distilled water. I have a VERY sensitive nose, tap or even bottled drinking water left me with some scent.
Years ago I used to buy it direct from the NeilMed (a good company), but now it is available at most chain pharmacies and of course Amazon, which is where I get it from now as a subscriber, that's the best method for me.
I know the product is "just" sodium chloride (salt) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), and I could obtain those and mix them myself. I'm a frugal guy and thought about it, but the convenience and ease of the packet is just too great. Especially when I do my rinse first thing in the morning and half asleep. Once I forgot to put the packet in.....OUCH.
I don't know if you can be "addicted" to this, but I look at it this way. You shower daily, brush your teeth daily, etc. I rinse my sinuses daily. Are those other hygiene practices addictions as well?
This product and sinus rinsing in general has been of great benefit to me.
If you have sinus problems or allergies, I could not give a higher recommendation than to try a product like this.
Product Review: Reduces snoring Summary: 5 Stars
I had read about and researched the Netipot and all the claims about using it. So I purchased a netipot and a NeilMed Sinus Rinse Bottle. The NeilMed bottle is much easier and less mess. I had used it for about 3 days when my husband desided he wanted to try one (I had bought one for each of us...no sharing). He did not like the sensation and said that he was not going to use it again. Well, that night he did not snore. Best sleep I have had in years. The next night he DID use it again (with slight urging from me). I can always tell when he has not used it in a couple days because I cannot hear the TV over his racket. BEST product I have bought in a very long time. The NeilMed pre-mix packets are great for either the netipot or NeilMed bottle. No burning. And there is no residual smell like there is after using the packets that came with the Netipot. I have since bought a set for my mom and sister. 9 more are on order for me to have on hand.
