Customer Reviews of Naturebright DIA2 Light and Dawn TherapyCustomer Review: 30 minutes of sunshine Summary: 3 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I was excited to get this product as I usually sleep rather late but I am going to be interning on a farm and need to get up much earlier. What could be better than gently using light to wake myself up at an earlier time?
When it first arrived, I immediately took it out of the box, plugged it in and fiddled with buttons until I got the lights to come on. My cats seemed to really enjoy it, which I figure is great since one of them is afraid to go out on the balcony and never gets any sun. While the light was on, I found and read the instructions, which, like the box it comes in, are charmingly written in english AND french (bonus! I now know how to say "low sex drive" in french!) The directions say not to use the unit until it's been charging for four hours. Oops.
An hour later, I realized I just spent the only hour of the day we actually had sunshine that day inside playing with a light box that simulates sunshine.
That night, I set the light box to wake me up the next morning. I suppose the ideal place to set it for this would be on a nightstand that is exactly the same height as the bed you are sleeping on, then you need to make sure you are laying on your side facing the light when it goes on. Oh yeah, and the darker your room is, the more impact it will make. I didn't really have a way to do all those things (I wish you could mount it on the wall, that might help a bit. Actually, you could perhaps put some velcro on the Naturebright and the other half of a strip of velcro on the wall, and stick it up there when you go to bed at night, if you don't mind a piece of velcro stuck to your wall.) I did the best I could with putting it near and pointing toward my face and went to bed. And...slept right through the light. Hmmm...guess I won't be using it for THAT purpose. I love the idea of being woken up by it slowly getting brighter in the room where you sleep, but this light isn't really big or powerful enough to do that. I really like the idea of light therapy boxes, I just wonder if this one is big enough to be effective.
I think the best use for this would be something to set in front of you on the table as you eat your breakfast, but if you have a chance to go outside for 30 minutes during sunshine, I think that would be a far better option, and thank you to the Naturebright for reminding me of that.

The Dia2 mimics natural daylight and simulates the dawn. | Light Therapy Encourages a Positive Mood Numerous studies have shown that natural light can have a positive effect on physical and mental health. When your eyes sense natural light, signals are sent to your brain that can trigger positive emotions and help fix mood imbalances. Using 66 bright Nichia-Blue LEDs, the Dia2 emits 4,500 LUX of gentle blue illumination. This amount of light is optimized to perfectly mimic a clear, sun-lit summer day and to give you all the benefits of natural light. In fact, the Dia2 can be helpful in treating everything from seasonal affective disorder, depression, and low energy to jetlag, decreased sex drive, and even skin conditions. Easy Treatment Fits Your Schedule The Dia2 allows for easy, non-obtrusive light therapy that doesn't disrupt your everyday life. To use the Dia2, simply place the lamp on an elevated surface and sit about 20 inches away from the light, allowing it to bathe over your face. Your eyes need to be kept open during the treatment, but you don't need to look directly into the light. In fact, many people engage in other activities while using the Dia2. You can exercise, eat, read, work at your computer, or watch your TV--all while reaping the benefits of natural light. Best of all, the Dia2 unit is compact and portable, so you can take it wherever you go. Sunrise Mode Helps Adjust Sleeping Patterns The Dia2 features a unique Sunrise mode, which simulates the light of a summer dawn to help improve your rest. Sunrise therapy (also known as Dawn and Dusk Simulation) has been shown to be effective in treating insomnia, jetlag, sleep cycle problems, and other sleep disturbances. You can easily program your Dia2 to gradually raise the intensity of light prior to your alarm or wake-up time. The effect is a simulated sunrise, which allows you to wake up gradually and complete your sleep cycle naturally. For convenience, the lamp also has a built-in alarm clock to ensure that you wake up on time. What's in the Box Dia2 light therapy lamp.
