Product Reviews of NatureBright Clarity Skin Rejuvenation LightProduct Review: Very Poor Quality Construction Summary: 2 Stars
I ordered this unit as a Christmas gift for someone but it arrived broken (one lamp failed to light). After careful inspection I discovered one of the connectors used to attach a cylindrical electrical component positioned under one bulb was cracked.
I then proceeded to call the customer support number appearing on the website but finally gave up after numerous attempts over several days. I then tried to contact them by email and was finally able to contact them. After playing email tag several times in which I fully explained the problem and even included a detailed picture for them to see the actual cracked component. I wanted to make sure they understood precisely which component was defective.
They then agreed to send me a replacement unit. After waiting about a week and a half the new unit arrived. Alas, I was finally ready to try out the new unit. The only problem was one bulb failed to light again! After close inspection on the replacement unit I discovered the exact same cracked piece only with a different bulb this time!!! I was absolutely stunned that they replaced a defective unit with another defective unit (i.e they never even tested the replacement unit)!
My advice to people is to be very careful with this product. The quality of the electrical components and construction is poor. It was absolutely clear to me that these units were not damaged in shipping they were broken due to poor design and cheap construction. I also advise people that have units that so far appear to be "working" examine the attachment for the cylindrical components I described to see if they are loose or damaged. Yours my also be cracked but may not have separated enough yet for the electrical connection to fail.
As for me I returned the second defective unit and told them that based on the poor quality and lack of controls I no longer trust the device and will look elsewhere.
Product Review: Works Great But Some Caution with Brown Skin Summary: 4 Stars
Background: I am African American with a caramel skin complexion. I have very oily and acne prone skin and am also super sensitive and will hyper-pigmentate at the drop of a dime, leaving really dark patches on my face, especially cheek areas. I have struggled with moderate to severe acne since 13 years old, now approaching my 29th birthday, I decided that I had enough of paying $$$ to dermatologist and cosmetic surgeons to correct my acne and scars. I've been on topical and oral meds to include antibiotics and hormonal therapy. I have tried light peels, creams to speed exfoliation, and etc. My acne became so bad that my doctor put me on Accutane for 6 months (which totally caused severe joint pains that became unbearable but nevertheless, I stuck with the treatment). Accutane did clear up the cystic acne for about a year but it came back - but not as bad as before. I have also tried microdermabrasion treatments, pixel lasers, and various low level peels to treat the hyper-pigmentation, ice pick scarring and boxcar scarring.
After much research and reading reviews about various phototherapy machines, I decided to go with this brand. It's only been week 1 of using this machine but I have already seen results, this is especially so because I will usually look like a pizza by the time my cycle starts - and I am currently on now. I do not have any inflamed pimples what-so-ever. I do have little ones that are closed and deep underneath the skin along my jaw line but its very minimal compared to when Im not using anything or on typical Rx products. A few weeks back, I changed my diet a bit, added an array of supplements, and changed my skin care products to the H20 sea derived skin products (WHICH ARE AMAZING!!!) So, these three areas are also probably contributing to my improved (not clear - at least not yet) complexion.
The device itself is pretty simple, even when changing out the bulbs to alternate between the red and blue lights. It doesn't sting or irritate my skin at all. You will feel your skin tighten a little during the session. Since I am prone to hyper-pigmentation, like most people of color - be it black, Asian, or etc., I have noticed that my skin turned a shade darker - but it was an even distribution all over and not the annoying blotchiness I've experienced with the sun itself or side effects from topical meds. To combat the hyper-pigmentation, because although even, I would rather have my skin color match the rest of my body, I've started using hydroquinone at night and in the morning. HydroQ is the best brand for oily, acne prone skin as it is in a light weight gel form. It literally works super fast and will even out your skin color to its proper pigmentation, instead of the bleaching, Michael Jackson results.
In short, I am looking forward to continued use of this device and sharing with everyone my results in about a month or so.
Oh and for my deep acne scarring, I am also considering using the DermaRoll in conjunction with this device. I've read reviews on acne.org message boards of people who have seen great results combining the two.
Product Review: wow Summary: 5 Stars
I have been researching the power and results given for the light therapy concept. I had previously purchased the pretika pulsating light therapy wand and was pleased-but this is magnificent. I am 47-have light adult acne compounded by roseacea-i have been using this light box for 5 days and see a remarkable difference. My skin texture has changed dramatically as has the redness. I find the box VERY easy to use and am glad it can be customized for your own needs-all red,all blue or both. This is such an affordable way of using new and effective technology. I am well pleased.
