When my alarm goes off in the morning, it takes a lot of encouragement from my seven cats to convince me that the day is worth facing from a place other than my bed. Even when I do get out of bed, I'm constantly wondering if I should have ever gotten out. But it wasn't until my drastic mood swings cost me yet another girlfriend, that I finally decided it was time for me to address my problems.While the falling mercury, lack of sunlight and cold temperatures could be attributed to me being a grumpy bastard, I could only go on using that excuse for so long. I had a problem, and I needed help.
I spent literally thousands of dollars on therapy, and that couldn't help me. Those so-called "self help" books couldn't help, either. I needed an effective way to enhance my mood -- and I needed it now.
And then a friend told me about SAM-e.
He told me that (and I'm paraphrasing here) S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAM-e) is formed when the body combines the amino acid L-methionine with ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the primary energy molecule found in physiologic processes. SAM-e may be the most active and efficient of the various methyl donors currently known. SAM-e is considered The Active Methionine. It is utilized for transmethylation, transulfuration and amino propylation. The amount of SAM-e available to the body typically declines with age. SAM-e is also critical in the manufacture and maintenance of cartilage, while Glucosamine may help repair and maintain cartilage, in addition to stimulating cartilage cell growth. Cartilage rebuilding and regeneration are normal functions of the body. Over time, joint cartilage begins to break down due to physical stress and aging, causing joint discomfort and making even everyday activities like walking difficult to perform. SAM-e is a critical compound involved in more than forty biochemical reactions in the body. One of the most significant is the manufacture of mood-related brain neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine.
