Product Reviews of NOVA 330 Lightweight Transport Chair with Hand Brakes and 12" Rear Wheels, 19", BlueProduct Review: LOVE this Transport Chair Summary: 5 Stars
I've taken my mother EVERYWHERE in this chair and we have had a lot of fun that would be impossible without it. Love the large back wheels, the handbrakes, the manueverablity, light weight, foldability. And best of all, MOM LOVES GOING OUT IN IT. After 5 years of use, the brakes are wearing out, but I'd buy another one.
Product Review: Not quite happy Summary: 3 Stars
I am glad I did not pay any more then I did for this chair. It is adequate for our needs but when it arrived I had to fight for quite a while to get it pulled apart to open it the first time and shortly after that the right brake assembly literally went BOING! The clamp moving around has stripped the paint in that area besides marring the aluminum tubing. I had to attempt to repair it myself and it is still not 100%. One handle also will not fold completely back without a great deal of difficulty so it isn't quite as compact and I am concerned about further damage to the chair itself. The removable footrests are nice but I can not adjust them so luckily they were at the length we needed coming out of the box. The chair when folded will fit in the trunk of a Civic but I'm afraid getting it in the backseat will either be impossible or another struggle. It does handle fairly well on uneven sidewalks and seems to be fairly comfortable. The straps on the footrest are a nice idea but do not stay on their posts so you either have to leave them dangling or keep stopping to put them back. If they added anything to this chair I would suggest a strap or something to "lock" it in the folded position for getting it in and out of a trunk. I wish I could have rated this higher then a 3 but there were to many petty annoyances right off the bat to rate it any higher. I would recommend it but not wholeheartedly.
Product Review: Perfect. Stylish and very well built Summary: 5 Stars
I checked out many of the brands and none compared to this one. Easy to fold, stylish and the tires are great. I wanted one with little larger tires in the rear. Very comfortable and easy to fold. The handle grips are very soft and have a comfortable grip. It has a molded part extension allowing your thumbs a place to rest. Highly recommended...
Product Review: Yes, **THIS** is THE chair you want! Summary: 5 Stars
I had no clue, so I studied the comments attending the assorted chairs here at Amazon. From the resulting short list, I chose this one, hoping I made the right choice. Folks, I'm telling ya-- this thing is a beauty, both in terms of looks AND mechanical operation! The back and chair are seriously padded, for maximizing comfort. There's even a seat belt! The chair comes fully assembled, except for the footrests, which were in a smaller box. No instructions, but after looking at the stem connecting the footrest to the chair and the area where I knew each had to be attached, it became obvious how to join the two. No tools needed. Indeed, the manufacturer thoughtfully made it possible to slide the footrest stem into the main chair's stem in only one manner. Just pay attention to the curvey section on the footrest stem, match it with its counterpart, slide it in, adjust for height, then screw the black wheelie screw to affix it.
Less than a 5-minute job per footrest. So many thoughtful touches on this chair-- I discovered such treats while rolling the chair up and down our hallway as maiden test runs. So, to wrap-up:
* Lay the huge box flat, then pull out the chair
* Set the chair upright, pull on either side of it to open for seating position
* Pull up each side of the back, which will "snap" into place
* Open the smaller box to get to the footrests
* Take one footrest out of the plastic wrapping.
* * * Match its curve to the curve of one side of the chair.
* * * Unscrew the little black wheelie screw.
* * * Insert the footrest stem into the chair stem.
* * * Attach by re-inserting that black wheelie screw at the level desired. Done!
* Rinse & repeat for the 2d footrest.
I wheeled the finished product into our guest room, where my 88 year old mom now resides (courtesy of dementia in overdrive), and her eyes immediately lit up. Helped her get into the chair, and the huge smile confirmed super-comfort. Attached the seat belt, then took her for a ride around the neighborhood, with her 4-legged "grandson" on leash. Talk about a perfect Sunday! Once I got Mom resituated in the house, I took the chair out to my car. It's a SMALL ragtop sports car (Mitsubishi Eclipse) with a munchkin trunk, but because I could so easily collapse the chair AND fold its back down, it proved to be a no-sweat job actually getting it into that truck. Trust me-- THAT I did NOT expect!!
One word: fantastic!
(My Amazon Vine Membership played no role here. Found the product on my own, and paid for it out of pocket.)
Product Review: great chair Summary: 5 Stars
This chair was exactly as described. The hand brakes are particularly useful for those living in hilly areas. I'd never buy a chair intended for outside use without them. I didn't especially like the straps and pegs on the footrests. I is difficult to get stiff legs onto the footrests, but they are easily removed.
