The first time I turned it on the bulb burned out I had to buy another one. It is working ok now. Most companies would have replaced the bulb free.
Product Review: Otoscope just like your docs! Summary: 5 Stars
A little spendy, but here's the only question you need to ask yourself: "How much do you value your hearing?" Don't guess what's in your ears. Find out and use a safe doctor recommended method of removing matter from the ear canal. I coupled this with a tri-spraying syringe for safely interrogating my ears. Don't cheat your ears! Product Review: Outstanding Quality Summary: 5 Stars
I have come back to purchase 2 more of these otoscopes. I purchased this same otoscope in the past and it has worked flawlessly in our clinic for the past 2 years. The light is very bright and what you see is very clear. I feel you can not go wrong with this otoscope especially considering it's inexpensive price. Actually I can almost guarantee you will be amazed at it's quality considering it was under $50. The only problem I ever had was the zipper on it's case kept sticking. Two or three months after I purchased it I emailed the company and explained the problem. They immediately sent me out a new case no questions asked.
As I said I could not be happier.......other than if someone can get summer to arrive a little sooner rather than later. Whatever happened to global warming? This is the coldest Houston winter I can remember.
Product Review: Pefect Ear Device Summary: 5 Stars
Love it. Easy to use to check on my daughter's ears. She has a hearing problem and this device helps me to know when it's time to clean her ears to avoid the wax to clog on her tiny expensive hearing aids. One of the best product purchased from Amazon.com.
Product Review: Poor quality otoscope and ophthalmoscope don't buy! Summary: 1 Stars
Warning to all considering purchasing this item. Don't! Currently I purchased one of these units labeled "professional otoscope / ophthalmoscope". These units can be found under similar names on the internet as well as other sites. They are all the same as I found out when others in my class had the same units. They are all the same quality and visualization with these units is extremely poor. The uses very cheap attachable heads that are far too big for the ear. When visualizing the tympanic membrane, the magnification glass is not gauged correctly and causes a tunneling effect. To explain, instead of magnifying the end of the otoscope (where you are looking), it magnifies the entire tunnel, causing it to look like you are looking from a FAR distance away and you can barely see anything at all.
The ophthalmascope on the other hand....Well, it may say 3.5v, but it is more dim than the 2.5v welch allyn or ADC brands out there. Also the light is not adjustable in size. It has one size, LARGE, this makes for poor visualization of the optic nerve and vessels. You can get a red reflex, but barely. The light is too large and too dim for much of anything.
I suggest investing in something a little more expensive, there are some less expensive portable units made for companies such as welch allyn that are better priced. These units also hold their resale value.
My suggestion, buyer beware, these are not as they are described. There are several reviews that appear very fake. A physician, NP or PA would not use a unit like this. Students, for learning, find something you can actually see out of to learn from.
