Product Reviews of N-Acetyl Cysteine 600 mg 100 CapsProduct Review: Truly helps! Summary: 5 Stars
I am convinced that this truly helps with
pulmonary fibrosis. I am also taking a
breathing medicine, but I think this does it all!
I didn't want to praise too much or they'll
raise the price! Just kidding.
Product Review: Truth about NAC Summary: 3 Stars
Endogenous antioxidant and precursor to intracellular glutathione. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is used to prevent exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, treat drug-induced hepatotoxicity, and prevent and treat conditions of oxidative stress and reduced glutathione levels, such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, and toxicity from chemo- or radiotherapy. NAC increases plasma levels of cysteine and glutathione and has antioxidant, nucleophilic, mucolytic, and possibly chemopreventative properties. Oral bioavailability is low. Orally administered NAC reaches peak plasma concentrations (Cmax) in 1-2 hours. Bioavailability is estimated to be between 4 and 10% depending on whether the drug is in its reduced or total form. This medication is primarily used via an IV or a nebulizer by physicians. The oral form is only used for distal intestinal obstruction syndrome. That syndrome occurs to patients with cystic fibrosis. Routine oral use in otherwise normal patients has not been shown to be beneficial. The side effects from oral dosing are gastrointestinal disturbance, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, conjunctival irritation, and skin rash. Use with caution.
Product Review: ever heard of Trichotillomania? Summary: 5 Stars
I heard about this thru [...] Trichotillomania
Learning Center. Trichotillomania is compulsive hair
pulling, which I wont go into here. But a nice
multi-pronged approach is diet, NAC, yoga, CBH,( cognitive behavorial therapy) and education.
I am very happy with the quality and price of the product
as well.
Product Review: glutathione precursor to help your liver Summary: 5 Stars
Acetyl cysteine is converted to glutathione in the body. Glutathione is responsible for detoxifying many potentially toxic metabolites. In particular, acetaminophen / paracetamol / Tylenol is in part converted to a toxic compound by the liver; glutathione deactivates this compound. Consequently, acetyl cysteine is given as an "antidote" for acetaminophen overdoses (assuming the liver isn't already trashed by the time the antidote is taken). I've been happy with Swanson nutritional supplements in the past, which is why I bought this particular brand.
