I purchased 2 of these meters. One of the two did not work properly. The readings were over 100 points higher than my mechanical meter. I kept getting a new "HI" reading just about each time I took readings. During an attack, I took my readings, and received a new "HI"(reading over 685). I then used my mechanical meter, and found I was in the red zone (actual reading 370).
The second meter I purchased is for my son, his 'appears' to be working properly. I will monitor this closely. As far as I am concerned, this meter is a piece of garbage.
Description of Microlife PF 100 Peak Flow Meter for Spirometry with FEV1
This device is used to measure Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF) and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1-second (FEV1) in both children and adults. PEF is the fastest speed air can be blown out of the lungs after inhalation. FEV1 measures the volume after exhaling in 1-second. Peak Flow (PEF) and Forced Expiratory Volume in 1-second (FEV1) measurements can tell how well lungs are breathing by monitoring airflow. Doctors can have patients monitor changes in airflow and record the results. The automatic memory stores and provides easy access to the last 240 readings along with the time and date.Respiration Flow Meters
