I've been using the real wet-shaving ritual for about a month now, and with my order of the Merkur 1904 "#48" safety razor came one of the Merkur Supers. I had also ordered a sample pack from Amazon and traded some of these for some that my roommate bought as well. Without a doubt, the Merkur blades hold the finest in my opinion. For a solid shave and blade longevity, I would suggest these. They are not the sharpest (I would go with Feathers or Sharks if you want really sharp), but they seem to work pleasantly in my Merkur razor. Just a side note, for blades I've used that are similar, try Lord, Big Ben, and even Bic Chromes. Overall 5 stars for Merkur's blades and 5 stars for Merkur in general.Product Review: No wonder it is considered baseline

This is a great blade. I usually get about 10 passes across my face for each blade. I get a smoother, more constant shave than I could have ever expected.
There is a learning curve. The fist few times I cut myself up pretty badly. And last night, girlfriend found out the same thing.
That being said, once I got the hang of it--light, smooth strokes--I never looked back to the other "shaving systems". I don't know why you need 4 or 5 blades when one does the trick so well.

This blade is not sharp enough for my beard, especially on the reverse pull, it sticks and rips the roots. I will try the Derby and if that does not work then Feather.Product Review: Nowhere close

I received a sample of these blades when I bought my Merkur Razor Handle. I had already read about other razor blades and ordered a set of Derby blades with my order. Thank goodness for that because when I used the Merkur blade for my first shave just to give it a try, it did not reduce my beard at all. It only felt like I was passing a thin edge over my face. I immediately switched over to the Derby and had a wonderful experience. Merkur blades definately did not work for me.
