Product Review: Perfect!

Perfection! Yes, I said it. This is a perfect product. When I got mine about a year ago I was new to the double edge razor blade world and cost savings were my main priority. I had a cheap razor which I used most days and wanted to let my old man in on this secret. On a whim I got him this razor for a present and he obstinately refused to use it, so it was really a gift to myself. Either way I was immediately impressed with the quality of the product. From the pictures I thought this would be an overhyped piece of junk, but it is truly a finely engineered instrument. Everything is perfectly engineered for the job, the weight, the finish, the adjustment, etc. Yes, it is expensive, but it is worth every penny.
After a full year of use I can say that it was fully worth it. I use 3 as my preferred setting and can easily shave immediately after a hot shower with no shaving cream, even against the grain. It does take a little bit of practice but is well worth the effort and the final product, the best feeling shave you have ever given yourself. The razor has more than paid for itself over the expensive disposable alternative and with a quick cleaning could be passed off as a brand new product. This thing is in perfect condition even after a full year of use and I expect it to last me a decade or more. I can't stress enough how nicely finished and engineered this razor is, something that has to be experienced and felt in person. If you are still skeptical I suggest you find a friend, relative, store, whatever and feel this thing in your hands. I will never go to another razor and probably will never have to. The only reason not to like this razor is the design, a personal preference choice, which does appear slightly modern, but looks perfectly normal in person. I have never had any problems with gripe and I find the heavy weight to be perfect for shaving.
You will not be disappointed and I can say that this is one of the few products I have bought in recent years that I felt was worth every penny paid. Best wishes shaving!

After using this razor, it just kills me that I wasted all that money on disposable razors & their refill cartridges. Initially, I was skeptical about using a double edge safety razor because I feared cutting myself. When my Futur adjustable arrived, I followed another reviewer's advice: use short strokes, go slowly, apply no pressure, start with the lowest setting, & slightly angle the blade against my face.
The end result was a close, comfortable shave without any nicks. Felt as if I just left the barber shop.
Another fine example of German craftsmanship. There were some differences in opinion whether or not this model is good for beginners so I'm glad that I chose the Futur adjustable. If you're environmentally conscious then this razor is a wise choice.
Also, I have a few suggestions:
1. Cappuccino or latte mugs make great shaving mugs.
2. Don't use the cheap foam or gels. Try Mint Shave Cream.
3. After shaving, try washing your face with tea tree oil soap. Very soothing.

While I did not purchase from Amazon, I did the research here and decided to write yet another review.
I am 24, and have been shaving since I was 14. Like many I have used the full array of Gillette shavers from the Sensor to the ridiculous Fusion (I kept getting them sent to me free in the mail). Even tried the Quattro, once (absolute junk). I don't know how my facial hair compares in thickness to other guys (nor is that something I really want to learn).
With the Futur (and Merkur blades) there is no pulling of hair, no clogging, nothing. It is a welcomed change as I would spend most of my time rinsing the disposables or tapping on the counter with most of the blades still clogged up. I don't even need to keep the water running to force hair out, I used the other reviewers tip and use a large coffee cup.
I have not updated my shaving products yet. I use "the king of shaves" line and it seems to work good so far. I bought in bulk and I plan to use it up before I make a full leap.
Another great tip I picked up was to put a small mirror in the shower to shave. With the weather getting colder I tend to stay in the shower and warm up. This way I can at least be a little productive as I reach 10-15 minute showers.

Product Review: Slippery handle

I've been shaving with this razor for months now.
When the handle is wet, it's a bit difficult to hang onto. And it *will* get wet in the process of shaving. I wish the handle were knurled or grooved. The problem is not insurmountable, but it is bad enough that I've considered applying a rubber coating to the handle.
Other than that, it is a quality peice of shaving gear which I enjoy using. I'm sure it would last a lifetime. But I'm here to look at different razors today...
