Product Reviews of Menstrual Color Cotton Pads - 3 - PackProduct Review: Ok- but not as good as some. Summary: 2 Stars
I'm so glad I only bought a three pack. I purchased these products from this brand as well as two others. These shrunk in the dryer quit a bit and I had trouble getting them to lay flat and go back to their originial shape after washing and drying. I also purchased Fuzibunz brand- and they held up much better in the wash and for wear! But for the price, none of the brands are really worth it. If you sew, google for a pattern. I made an entire month's worth with 22 dollars worth of material and supplies. I love the ones I made so much better than the three brands I bought.
Product Review: Pretty pads Summary: 5 Stars
These are great for regular wear. I have used these for years now, and my daughter is now using them, too.
Product Review: Surprisingly Comfortable Summary: 5 Stars
In the past year I switched to cloth diapers for my kids. While doing internet research to decide what kind of cloth diapers I would use, I found sites & mention of cloth menstrual pads. I cringed & quickly moved on. However, i recently (not sure what spurred the change) decided to give it a go. My logic was that menstrual blood is certainly more sanitary than the mess my kids make in diapers, so that's not a good reason not to try it, plus the reasons I use cloth for them make as much sense for me: better for the environment, better on my budget, healthier (no chemicals next to tender areas of the body), & more comfortable/breatheable. So I bought one package of 3 & after only one day of use, was hooked. It was so soft & plenty absorbant. I typically need to change sanitary napkins much more often than typical not due to flow, but i get rash/yeast problems due to poor air circulation. With the glad rags I changed only when needed for flow purposes & never had any problems. A surprising benefit for me was how well they stay in place. They have wings that snap together vs the disposable's using tape-like adhesive. I never can get disposable wings to stay put & they end up sticking rather painfully to stray hairs. I got a floral print so if there is any staining I can't tell (not that it would bother me if they did stain...no one will be looking at them but me). I didn't expect to care about them being pretty, but oddly enough, it was kind of nice. The only downside is that they are so expensive, however I have found glad rags to be the least expensive brand on the internet. There may be cheaper WAHM pads, but I have not tried any. Plus as with cloth diapers, if you run out unexpectedly, you don't have make a trip to the store, just wash a small load of laundry. I would recommend you at least try one if you are even slightly interested.
Product Review: The best thing I've done for myself this year Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this product.
As a person with sensitive skin, it is so nice to find a product that is as comfortable and easy to use as this gladrags kit.
I was reluctant at first to try this alternative to disposable sanitary protection---if, for no other reason than it was different than what I was accustomed to.
After my first day of using the product, I could tell a big difference in my comfort level. None of the chaffing usually associated with disposables was present in this soft, organic cotton pad.
Even though I do laundry only once a week, it was simple to rinse the pads and then place them in my regular laundry. They came out clean and fresh, and ready to use. Of course, there is some staining. Therefore I recommend getting the pads with the unusual printed fabrics as the staining with be significantly less noticeable.
Reportedly, from the website of the parent company, the pads will last for up to 5 years with good care. For me, that ends up being quite a savings. Since I am working hard to pay down my student loan debt, that type of savings is very useful.
Additionally, there is a positive environmental impact for using this products as opposed to traditional sanitary protection. Suprisingly, disposable sanitary protection causes more problems in landfills than even dirty diapers!!
It's a small step to save the planet. An easy one to make. And it is so much easier on you if you have sensitive skin, or are prone to allergies or yeast infections.
I highly recommend it!
Product Review: lifesavers Summary: 5 Stars
I use these as backup for my diva cup esp. at work where I unload trucks so bathroom breaks aren't on my schedule. These are so much better than using the disposables. That plastic in the disposables is so uncomfortable while these are like flannel sheets. They are easy to take care of. I just toss mine in the wash with loads of towels and they come out just fine. They send you a random color and pattern but I really didn't care what they had on them. Buy more if you are using them alone instead of backup though.
