I'm a long time user of melatonin. Insomnia has been an affliction of mine for just about as long as I can remember. Prescription meds work just fine, but I didn't like the idea of having to go see my doctor every 6 months or a year just to have him tell me I have the same insomnia problem that has plagued me for the last 30 years. Besides, prescription meds can cause you one too sleep too much, and can be addictive as anyone that suffers this problem knows. My nightly routine for years has been a combo of some brand of melatonin and Valerian, a relaxation herb. I stuck pretty much to the standard 3 mg strength of melatonin, taking anywhere from two to three every night. A one time trial of a 5mg strength didn't seem to see my sleep fare much better. I decided to try a bottle of these time release tablets just recently, figuring that the idea of a little of the melatonin being released all night just made good sense. The result has been rather extraordinary. The very first night I took them I took twice the recommended dosage of one tablet, and slept in the next morning for hours. It was the first time I remember waking up in such a fog since using a prescription pill. I lowered the dose to just one pill the next night and slept soundly for over 6 hours. Very rare for me. I have since used this for about a month and have slept much better and more soundly than I have for quite some time. These 5 mg in the time release may be a little pricier than the regular 3 mg, but they make up for the extra cost by one really never needing more than the one pill dose. One bottle can last you over three months, with an every night usage. I highly recommend this Natrol time release. Its made a real difference with me, and as mentioned before, I am a life long sufferer of lousy sleep. I only caution anyone trying it to use the recommended dosage of one tablet first before deciding to up it. This stuff works, and one pill is all most should need...
