Product Reviews of Medi-Dyne ProStretch Unilateral Stretching SystemProduct Review: Great for Achilles Tendonitis Summary: 5 Stars
I am a dancer and was developing achilles tendonitis. With long tendons, it was difficult to stretch a tight calf. After a few weeks of using this for 30 seconds once per day, the tendonitis has subsided. It should be used with shoes.
Product Review: Great for plantar fascittis Summary: 5 Stars
I was having plantar fasciitis problems and buying every type of shoe insert trying to find something that helped. Nothing really worked until I tried using the prostretch. I don't use it much, but I use it just before going out for a run. It didn't take long and my heal pain and plantar problems are gone. Not sure where my arch went, but now at least I don't have any pain.
Product Review: HAS HELPED BUT NOT COMPLETELY FIXED MY PROBLEM Summary: 4 Stars
This stretching system has helped my condition (Plantar Fasciitis) but not completely cured it. That being said....I don't use it faithfully as I should so that's probably the reason! I cannot complain about the product...it is my commitment to doing the exercises on it that I should be complaining about, lol.
Product Review: HAVE HAD MINE ABOUT 30 YEARS I THINK... Summary: 5 Stars
I started running distance events in 1971 and somewhere way back then I picked up a PROSTRETCH to help with stretching. Although my distance running days ended in the late 80's, over the years, like now as I write this review, I have had to return to using it regularly when I had over-stressed my arches.
--This time that was caused by a combination of a lot of long walks on concrete and a lot of wearing some really comfortable slides that, unfortunately, do not provide very good arch support.
It goes without saying that I am an extreme fan of this ingenious little device; what I'd like to do is offer some comments on OTHER comments on it.
1) There is a study online [KUZMA & McNEIL, UW-L, 2005] in which the researchers concluded that the PROSTRETCH device is no better than static or incline board stretching. My own experience and the overwhelmingly positive reviews here at Amazon would suggest otherwise.
2) At least one reviewer here asserts that he or she was injured by using the PROSTRETCH. I can see where this would easily happen if one did not STRICTLY follow the instructions in the user's manual which CLEARLY state that one should not stretch too fast or too far.
3) These devices are built to last; I'd say that in normal usage they will easily outlive the original purchaser. IOW, they are a classic device that you may just hand down to your grandkids.
4) Lastly, and this is sort of a minor point but one that needs addressing IMO, I don't know if the present units come with the very hi-quality heavy-duty rubberized strips on the bottom. On mine these are 1/2" wide by 10.25" long by 1/8" deep. I have found them to be sufficient for using the device safely on hardwood floors. It would be nice to know if other users have also found them to be sufficient. We - wife & I - use the device on hardwood floors or carpet/rugs only - not outdoors - as we don't want to damage the rubber strips.
Recommend without reservation to reasonably discerning people.
Product Review: I use it every day! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been dealing w/ the pain of planters factitious for a while now. It's a pain having to stretch every morning or night, especially w/ a full time job and 2 children under 3. However, I leave this thing next to my bed and stretch first thing in the AM and last thing in the PM and it works very well. I first started using it while in PT and found that of all the other stretches they had me do, this one seemed like the most productive and felt the most effective.
