Product Review: Great for early stage dementia
Summary: 5 Stars

My 90-year old mother didn't take to it right away, but we worked with it together, and she was finally able to use it independently and accurately. It pleased her that she could remove my burden of having to be at her home three times a day for medication dosing. My only criticism is that the cost makes it prohibitive for many people. Medicare SHOULD cover it, but I guess that would just make too much sense!

Product Review: Great product
Summary: 5 Stars

This alarm was a lifesaver for my dad who is suffering from dementia and could not manage a pill box since he didn't always know what day or time it was. This has saved me from calling him and telling him to take his medicine several times today. Great deal and works well.

Product Review: Inexpensive, loud, flexible
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this for my father who was spotty at taking his meds (2x per day) and would often take the wrong day or even the wrong med set (take morning pills at night). This little alarm solved the issue. I tried other options - programming PC to go off, setting cell phone alarms, etc - but none were simple, reliable and targeted to the problem. We had even considered hiring a caregiver to "drop in" and make sure he took his meds. This little alarm filled the bill for us.

First, it has 4 alarms that are all flexible. You can use 1,2,3 or all 4. All 4 can be set at any time you desire. We only use 2 (morning and bedtime).

Second, it is loud. We have it set to "Loud" (vs EXTRA LOUD) and it can be heard from anywhere in the 2BR apartment. Not annoying loud...but loud enough.

Third, it is reliable. With 2 AA battery power, it never resets with a power surge. Don't know how long the batteries will last, but I would assume they last a pretty long time if the alarm is silenced quickly.

Other: Dad was also having problems keeping track of the day/date. The Green button on this alarm speaks the day and date to him which we like. It has a light which we do not use but I would assume would be good for nighttime doses and nightstand use (we keep ours on top of the refrigerator). Pretty cheap at twenty six buxs, especially compared to hiring a human reminder.

Cons (not really, but..): After trying 3 times, I had to read the instructions to move from alarm to alarm while setting it up - it is not completely intuitive. With this much flexibility it is a very minor price to pay.

Product Review: MedCenter Talking Alarm Clock
Summary: 4 Stars

This was very useful to my elderly Mother, who had somewhat of a problem using a daily pillbox, because of one med. needing to be taken every 6 hours. It would be helpful to have handle on top, because when picking it up, it's easy to push one of the menu buttons on the back in error, canceling the alarm settings.

Product Review: Medication reminder
Summary: 5 Stars

The Medcenter Talking Alarm Clock & Medication Reminder with voice cues is an exceptional device at a reasonable price. It allows for four voice announcements or audio alarms. I would suggest, however, that selection of the individual alarm settings be simplified or better explained in the instruction manual. With a little fiddling, I was able to get the three times that I use set and the fourth time turned off. All in all, a very useful product.
