I've used a variety of similar toppers for years and find them relaxing -- not deep massage but good for relaxation. This one is pretty well designed and works well -- when it works. But I have had three fail in less than a year. In each case it seems clear that it was a burnt-out resistor in the controller, a 5-cent part that the Chinese manufacturer probably bought from his crooked cousin. I'm sure that Brookstone is getting pretty tired of replacing them, and maybe someday they'll get tired enough to exercise some quality control (or buy from some place that does not specialize in junk and ripping off the customer). For my part, I paid for the two-year replacement policy, and plan to get my two years regardless of how many Brookstone has to send me.
