Product Review: Hooray for dry nights!
Summary: 5 Stars

We worked with our 6 year old son for two years to get him to stay dry at night with no success. Thought maybe the pullups were keeping him from learning, so we ditched them. For six months before we bought the alarm, I got up every two hours during the night to wrangle our son into the bathroom. He was a deep sleeper and would get up only with a lot of effort and then be disoriented, confused, and occassionally very unhappy. Even with all that, our number of accidents per week was pretty high, and always involved changing the sheets in the middle of the night, which also disrupted the sleep of his older brother who shared the same room. Plus, I was exhausted all the time.

We read a pamphlet in the pediatrician's office that suggested using an alarm to help with the learning process, so I looked into it and found great reviews here on Amazon. I figured if it worked, it would be well worth the cost.

Right away, there was a dramatic improvement in our quality of life, since I only had to get up when my son was wet and not every couple of hours. I had my doubts about it, but going back to pull-ups meant that I didn't have to change sheets in the middle of the night, so that was great for all of us, too. For the first week, there wasn't much change. He was still having 2 or 3 accidents each night, and I had to help him get up when the alarm went off. (And my older son who shared a room with him was very upset each time the alarm went off.) I began to think this method wasn't going to work for us. Like MAGIC on the 8th night he had one real accident at midnight, but was dry until 5:30am (!) and THEN he stopped himself, when I came in to wake him up, and went to the potty to finish!

Halfway through week 2 he got up before the alarm went off and went potty by himself. He had his first completely dry night in the middle of week 3. We had two more nights without accidents at the end of week 4, and some more in week 5. By the end of week 5 he had started staying dry all night without getting up to potty. By week 6, I'd say he had learned to stay dry at night.

He was dry all through week 8, so we stopped having him wear pull-ups, but continued with the alarm. He was dry through week 9 also, so we started alternating nights with and without the alarm. He stayed dry through week 10, too, and we were going on vacation for week 11, so we decided to leave the alarm behind. He had an accident the first night in the hotel, but was dry for the rest of the vacation and has been dry since we got home.

We're now in week 12 and he's been able to stay dry by himself for two weeks! This product made everyday life better for my whole family!

Product Review: I Cannot Believe this Worked But it Did
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this for my 6 year old son last fall, and it worked for us. He has been off it for 2 months, now. They say to use it until you have 14 dry nights in a row. It took nine weeks. But, it really was wonderful. It took 6 days of him being fully wet and the alarm blaring until he could stop mid-stream and get to the bathroom to finish. After those first 6 days, if he had an accident, the alarm would wake him up, and he would stop himself and get to the bathroom. This meant that only his underwear and maybe his pajamas got wet (usually it was like a spot the size of a quarter) and NOT HIS BED!!! My life got so much easier. We had to buy a new baby monitor so I could hear his alarm go off and help him. (Our bedroom is very far away from his.) I didn't mind that so much, if it meant no wet bed. And the new baby monitor is so nice. They're digital now, and crystal clear. I can't believe the thing (the bed wetting alarm) actually worked. And, if he ever has a relapse in the future, he goes back on it. That makes me feel good, too. Because in his life, he had dry periods for months, sometimes, and then started having accidents again. And without the alarm, how can you combat that?

Product Review: IT REALLY WORKS!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My 5 year old son couldn't get through the night without having an accident. There was no hope on the horizon--he couldn't get through ONE night EVER, without going in his pull-up. In fact, most nights we'd change his pull-up in the middle of the night and the new one would be wet again in the morning.

We tried withholding water; we tried waking him up to go to the bathroom at night; we tried rewards, but nothing worked. He IS only five, so we weren't really worried, but his cousins were all night-trained, and he was starting to get embarrassed. He'd get upset at the store when he saw me buy pull-ups and beg me to put them back. A friend came over to play and as he went down the hall to my son's room, my son physically pulled him back down the hallway and told him to wait in the living room and NOT to come back to his bedroom until he said it was okay. When I went to see what was going on I realized he was hiding his pull-ups so that the package was hidden and none were visible in the trash. I gave him a hug and his little heart was just pounding because his friend almost saw them. It just broke my heart.

I was SO AFRAID to buy this product because of the cost--what if it didn't work?--but it was worth every penny. I'm not sure it's so "high-tech" that it's worth $100, but it was worth every penny in that it actually DID night-train my son pretty quickly, and I know that made a great difference in his life. He feels like a real big boy now. He's proud of himself. I am THRILLED with this product and I encourage other parents to try it.

I showed it to him before we bought it and explained what it did, and he asked me to please buy it for him. I let him pick out the color, though I made sure to only let him choose one that had the vibration option. I was worried about the audible alarm, thinking it might scare him and he'd refuse to wear it, but we tested it out and he chose to use the vibration only, which was easily loud and strong enough to wake him up without the audible alarm. (the vibration itself is loud--I could hear it from the other room.) This worked out well because we also have a baby and I was afraid the alarm would wake her up.

We put his underwear on with the sensor attached to it, and then his pull-up on over the underwear and sensor. This way if he had an accident, we only had to deal with changing the underwear and pull-up, but not the bedding and jammies. He also felt more confident wearing his pull-up. We snaked the wire up under his jammies shirt and out his collar to try and make it safer (I was a little concerned about him getting the cord wrapped around his neck while sleeping.) He was excited about his little device and quickly learned to put it on himself.

The first week his alarm went off maybe once or twice a night, and he'd come get me to help him turn it off and get to the bathroom. (Even if he emptied his bladder in his undies, it's important to go to the toilet and try to put some potty in it, if only a few drops, because that's what it's trying to teach: you have to go potty so you wake up and go to the toilet.) I started to notice that pretty quickly he didn't completely empty his bladder in his underwear. Just like the product says it does, he soon started only wetting his undies a little, and when he felt the alarm he was able to stop his urine flow and put the rest of his pee in the potty. Encouraging!

This went from slight accidents to NO accidents in about 3 weeks. At this point he's been wearing the product to bed every night for about 2 months and we can't remember the last time it went off. After a long time with no accidents, we talked him into stopping wearing the pull-ups over his underwear. Our next step is to get him confident enough to stop wearing the potty alarm. In fact as I write this, this is the first night that he's gone just wearing his underwear and no potty alarm. He forgot to put it on tonight, and I'll tell him tomorrow morning what a success he had without it!

It really works, and it's not that "strange" once you get used to it. I told him that all sorts of men use tools to help them--construction workers, scientists, soldiers--and this was just a different kind of tool. The camo helped too. I'm sure he would have eventually night-trained on his own, but this product helped him feel "normal" and confident, and for that I'd pay a hundred dollars any day!

Product Review: Incredible!
Summary: 5 Stars

I would not believe it if they weren't my kids. My 6 year old son and 5 year old daughter both had issues with bed-wetting. After using the Malem for about 2 weeks, my son was good to go and has not had a single accident in months.
We then used it for my daughter and had the same results. About 2 weeks wearing the unit and no accidents since.
Prepare yourself to get up with them while they are wearing it though. It basically scares them awake and trains their brain when they need to go.
Again, I can not recommend this product any more highly. It works as advertised.

Product Review: It worked like Magic!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My six year old son was wearing night time diapers because he would flood his bed every night! I had cut back his juice intake, no drinks after 6pm and still had problems! I was a little skeptical about this product but was ready to try anything! The first night he slept dry all night! It has been a month and not one night has he wet the bed! I am 100% a believer in the product and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone!
