Product Review: Holy Cow!!!!! My regret is that I did't do this 6 years ago!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

My ten year old had never had even one dry night in his entire life. When my pediatrician recommeded this, I was amazed at the positive reviews on Amazon.com. I thought it was worth the try. I decided to give it 3 months before we gave up.

I slept on the floor next to his bed and helped him to the bathroom when the alarm went off for the first few weeks. (Turning off the alarm is a 2 step process---first you lift the lever on the clip that attaches to the underwear THEN you press the button). At first he was peeing right through the alarm going off and soaking his pants and pad underneath. He was just so out of it and didn't realize what in the heck was going on. Then it progressed to where his spot on his pants would be smaller before he stopped himself and went to the bathroom. After a while he was able to put the alarm on himself, turn it off himself, and take himself to the bathroom so I could sleep in my own bed and not worry about it at all. And then he would regress and wake up but have no idea how to turn the alarm off because it was like he was sleep walking. But like I said, I was going to give it 3 months!!!! It seemed like the alarm had stopped working for him.

3 months later he is cured. Dry all night with no alarm. Get this thing right now! Your child and their self confidence deserve it.

2 tips: When the alarm goes off, you must first lift the lever and then you can press the button to turn off the alarm. Otherwise the turn off button does not work.
Second, if your child is not responding to the alarm, sleep walking, not remembering what happened the next day, DO NOT GIVE UP! We had a few weeks of regression and times where I thought we might be the family that it wasn't going to work for. But we stuck with it and now he is cured. I would commit to 3 or 4 months. It is SO WORTH IT and the self confidence is priceless.

Product Review: I had no faith that this thing would work...but it DID!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this out of complete desperation. I did not think it would work, and really felt that I probably just wasted $100 of my hard-earned money. Man, was I wrong!!! I don't know how it worked, but it did, and I am thrilled. The alarm was for my 7 year old son, who never had a dry night in his life. The first 15 nights were brutal....he either woke up screaming from fear (the first few times it goes off, it seems so incredibly loud), or he slept thru it (hard to believe, I know). Then, on the 16th night, he woke up BEFORE the alarm went off...and went pee. This has now happened for 5 nights IN A ROW. I'm not waiving the Victory Flag quite yet, but all signs are that I will be able to wave it soon.

I gave the alarm 4 stars (not 5) because I think it could use some improvement, plus the thing really comes w/very few tips on how to use it successfully. I had to search all over the internet for those tips, and I will pass them on here (a bit later in the review).

The alarm is pinned on to the pj's, w/a big, old-fashioned baby safety pin. Not only does that look dorky, it puts holes in the pj's! I would think some sort of magnet (like they have on name badges) would work much better, and look better too. The instructions tell you to pin the alarm on the OUTSIDE of the pj's, but when you do that, it flops all around. And since the pin is on the top of the unit, it has a tendancy to "flop" around if it's pinned to the outside shoulder of the pj's. So I pinned it to the INSIDE of my son's jammies, to kind of hold it in one place, which seems to work.

The instructions tell you not to unplug the "jack" portion of the alarm (they never say WHY you shouldn't do this) to get it to stop alarming, but that's exactly what I did, just to save some time, and to get the thing to stop screaming as quickly as possible. When your kid has to pee RIGHT NOW, the last thing you want to be doing is fumbling w/the "clip" around the crotch of their undies. I just had my son take off his wet underpants, and I undid the clip at that time. When I got the dry underpants all rigged up w/the clip again, I just plugged the "jack" back into the alarm unit, and pushed the reset button (the reset button does NOT turn off the alarm). Also, I found that the "sensor" had to be blown-dry (for about 15 seconds or so) after it went off, or it would just alarm immediately, even on a dry pair of undies. That entire process can be quite cumbersome in the middle of the night, especially when you have to do it 2,3 or even 4 times per night. That's why I did not give the alarm 5 stars.

And now for some tips:

1. Do NOT allow your child to hoodwink you into making the alarm use vibration alone. They will sleep thru the alarm (trust me on that one).

2. Do NOT put on a pull-up OVER the underwear. Part of the learning process is letting the child "feel the pee".

3. The second week is harder than the first, so don't be discouraged.

4. Do NOT turn the alarm off until your child is standing at the toilet (or sitting if it's a girl), ready to pee. The child needs to REMEMBER the alarm going off, and then getting up to go pee. If they don't remember that, it's not going to work.

5. Do NOT withold liquids a few hours before bedtime. In fact, do the opposite.

6. If your child does not wake up when the alarm goes off, then turn on the light in their room, and say their name over and over. Don't whipser their name, but don't scream it either...just said it in a normal voice. If that still doesn't work (this happened w/my son during week #2), then get a washcloth wet with cold water, and swab their face, arms, legs until they DO wake up. Make sure the alarm is still alarming during all of this. VERY IMPORTANT!!! They have to learn to listen to the signal that their brain sends, telling them to get up and GO PEE.

So there you have it. Like I said earlier, I had ZERO confidence that this thing would cure my son of bedwetting, but it proved me wrong. Yeah, it's expensive, but it is so worth it!!!

Product Review: I was skeptical until we tried it.
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter is 11 years old and hadn't had more than a handful of dry nights in her life. I was skeptical that an alarm would work for her because she is a very heavy sleeper. In the past when we have woken her during the night to go to the bathroom she would not remember it the next morning.

After a week with the alarm we started seeing progress. This alarm has both a sound and vibration and it woke her every time. After a few nights with the alarm waking her she was able to unhook it and take care of everything without any help. My daughter has now been completely dry for three weeks and we are going to stop using the alarm this week! Like many of the reviews I read before buying this alarm, I wish we had tried this years ago.

One of the most helpful tips I read in the product reviews was to put your child in regular underwear, but to let them where Goodnights or Pull-ups over the underwear. This worked great for us. The first couple of nights when the alarm woke her, her bed was not wet so she just had to change her underwear and Goodnight. After that, she woke up so quickly that she only had to change her underwear because the Goodnight was still dry.

Can't say enough about this product. We are so glad we finally tried it!

Product Review: It Really Works!! Totally worth the money!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Words cannot describe how much our family loves this product! Especially my 10 year old daughter who wet the bed every night because she was such a heavy sleeper. I saw this alarm on the Today Show one morning and started asking about it at my local stores. To my surprise they are not available at any local pharmacy or store. I researched online and finally broke down and bought one. The cost of it I thought was high, especially if it did not work. My daughter was so excited to get it but I forgot to order it in pink and got blue. She got over that fast. She woke up about 3 times a night by the alarm (very sensitive to dampness, which is great!)and I was there to change her absorbent pad protector for the bed and she would change her clothes. It took a couple of weeks for her to reduce the times she had wet and then she just had very small episodes. After about 4 weeks she was dry every night and after 2 weeks of being dry we put the alarm in storage. She has not had a relapse yet! It has been 5 months now and she is so happy she can go on sleepovers. It was worth every penny, and more!

Product Review: It WORKS!!
Summary: 4 Stars

My daughter will be 7 next month. She has woke up soaking wet almost every night of her life. She is an extremely sound sleeper, so we were concerned she wouldn't wake up with this alarm. We decided to try it though, as the reviews were so positive. This product works great! The first two nights the alarm went off, around 4 or 5 in the morning and it scared her and us awake. After that she went a full week waking up dry. We had a few setbacks when we put her down comforter on the bed a week later. Suddenly the alarm was going off twice in the night, as early as 11 p.m. I thought at least once it was due to her sweating from the comforter, but the other times she definitely urinated a little. She is back to waking up dry and we are on our third week. She likes it and wants it to work for her. Her goal is to try without a pull-up after she goes another week dry. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the cost, even though it is $100.00 well spent. It just seems like with other technology coming down in price, this could be a lot cheaper and available to more people.
