I am not your typical person with trouble sleeping. I suffer from PTSD and have had to take heavy duty medication for sleep for 9 years, not ambien or tylenol PM. NO, the big guns that make you gain 50 pounds overnight. they work ok in getting me to fall asleep but staying asleep is another matter-any moderate noise wakes me up due to my trauma history. a friend of mine recommended ear plugs and they definitely work but they keep falling out during the night. hence, they really don't work that well. my therapist has one of these outside her office in the waiting room for privacy so I decided to try it...what the heck, nothing else is working that well. From the first night I have slept so much better. I keep it on my nightstand on low and it's perfect. I still hear my alarm clock or the phone ring. I was using my air purifier to create the white noise but it made the room feel cold and drafty. One added bonus that I wasn't expecting is that it also makes me feel calmer bc it reminds me of my therapist office. I may get another for the other side of the bed since someone said in the reviews that its great in stereo!Product Review: I now sleep!

Bought this item based on all the glowing reviews of it. It is NOT as loud or as noise canceling as they would have you think. While it is portable, it did not make enough noise on the high settings to cut through typical ranch sounds, (if you live on one you know what I mean!). It was no where near as loud as the fan we had used for this same purpose, and gave us a miserable night's sleep. We sent it back the next day. Might be good for quiet to moderate neighborhoods, but don't waste your time if you live on a ranch or farm...Product Review: It works!

I bought this product for my baby's room to help her sleep better - both from a white noise perspective and to mask sounds that might disturb her. We live in a small space, and so her room is by necessity very close to our living room/kitchen/etc.
After a month of use, I can say that the device works fabulously as a comforting, soothing white noise generator. However, because the device is just not very loud (even on the high setting), it does nothing to mask our normal household noises when she's sleeping. Although I haven't returned the product, I'm disappointed that it doesn't do a better job at masking unwanted sounds. If I had wanted just a white noise maker, I would have bought something significantly cheaper.
