Fantastic product. My wife who is visually impaired finds it VERY user friendly with excellent database of products. Prompts are easy to follow and portable. She can also label clothes or other items with included blank 100 bar codes provided. If a barcode is not recognized by database (only had two so far) you can voice record the product. It even (if you prompt it) will tell you the nutritional facts of product as well as directions for use. Battery life is very long - been using 2 weeks without it needing a recharge yet. Product is expensive but well worth it for any blind or visually impaired customer who wants more independence around the house or in the food/clothes store.

Take this newest version of the ID Mate to the grocery store to help you identify any bar-coded food package. It is smaller and contains all the current registered bar codes. Scan any UPC or bar code and hear the details! OMNI is an all-in-one, hand-held talking bar code scanner. It measures only 7 inches long and 3 inches wide and weighs less than 1.5 lbs. The portable OMNI boasts a huge on-board database of over one million items. This updateable database includes grocery, pharmacy, CD's, DVD's, spirits and much more. It includes many store brand generics too. If an item isn't included in the database, you can easily add it with a quick voice recording. It comes with an over-the-head adjustable lanyard and a rubberized case for an easy grip. OMNI uses Compact Flash memory. No PC is required, but it is PC compatible. The package includes the following: OMNI - directional scanner, 512 MB memory card, carrying case, AC adaptor/charger, rechargeable battery pack, 100 re-useable bar codes and print and audio user's guide.
