Product Reviews of Homedics SBM-300H Therapist Select Shiatsu PLUS Massaging Cushion with HeatProduct Review: Difficult for short people Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this for someone with lower back problems. Heard it works great but requires use of extra cushions for shorter persons.
Product Review: Easily Pays for Itself Summary: 4 Stars
After reading the reviews here, I decided to purchase this model, SBM-300H, and return a less expensive chair massager back to walmart (it was similar to the SBM-200, but it was the walmart brand). It was a good decision. The previous chair massage pad only had the shiatsu massage and a choice of full, upper or lower massage. This model, 300H, has rolling and shiatsu massage, width adjustment (for the rolling massage) and a spot massage (for the shiatsu) which will focus the massage in one area. The spot massage alone is worth the extra money. If you feel a sore spot, you can pause the rollers right there and work that area. This was absolutely impossible to do with my previous massage chair pad.
That being said, the massage does not go quite as high up on my shoulders as I would like, so I find myself scooting down and back so that it will work my trapezoids.
The heat works quickly and well. This is important because you want your muscles to be warm and loose for the deep tissue work. This will lessen the soreness. With my previous chair the heat took much longer to work.
This chair provides a good moderate massage. It's not too light and it's not too deep. The previous massage chair (for any of you considering saving a buck with the massage cushion from walmart) was much to deep. It was extremely rough. This one provides a nice balance. Once again, it's well worth the extra money.
I enjoy deep tissue massages and would try to work out the tension in my back with tennis balls when I couldn't afford to go to the massage therapist. The SBM-300H does a better job than the tennis balls with much less work. Nothing is quite as good as a trip to an actual massage therapist, but this massage cushion runs a close second.
Product Review: Essential Item for the Office Worker Summary: 4 Stars
I owned the 300H for approximately one year and believe it is essential to the someone who sits on a chair for a prolonged duration of time. The rollers are effective in relieving minor muscle knots, and combined with 300H's optional heating element the device is effective in improving circulation and maximizing seating comfort. The 300H is not suited for an individual taller than 5'8'', as the rollers barely reach half my back while sitting upright (I am 6' tall).
Product Review: Excellent Product Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great product, feels like a real massage and the added heat is a plus! Probably could shop around for better price, after buying the product at christmas time, I found it for a little less on sale.
Product Review: Excellent value - this may become a nightly treat Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Since I long have had constant problems with muscular tension in my back, I could not get this product unwrapped and running quickly enough. Overall, I found it quite effective, and I have no doubt I'll indulge in its use very frequently. The massaging action (confined to the back - there is no leg massage) worked out the knots near the spine very thoroughly.
I only withheld a five star rating because, though it is a superb value in this price range, there are some drawbacks which could affect particular customers. The controls are very basic, and do not include any way to adjust intensity. The standard intensity could be excessive for anyone with relatively delicate muscles or skin.
Controls allow for adjustment of width, and for 'spot' massage, but I found the length of the unit to be rather short. I am only 5'2", and the height was perfect for me - but I daresay other customers may have a bit more length to the torso. The unit also is slightly noisy, which some may find bothersome.
I found this to be a very worthwhile product, well suited for relaxing tension in the muscles.
