Product Reviews of Homedics QRM-400H Therapist Select Quad-Roller Massaging Cushion with HeatProduct Review: For the price this is great; if you are average height Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Let me start off by saying that I was interested in trying this cushion because I have sat in a friends massage chair (that costs thousands of dollars) and I wanted to see the difference. Over the last 10 days I have used this about 15 times. I just finished building a fence in my backyard this weekend and I put this cushion to use.
Setup for the cushion is a no-brainer. It is all one piece so there are no cables to connect or straps to attach. Just place the cushion on top of a comfortable chair and you are ready to go.
If you have never sat in a massage chair the cushion might feel odd at first. You will feel the rolling mechanism in the small of your back. At first this may take some time to get use to because you can't just let yourself sink into the cushion. This is one downside to this cushion compared to a massage chair. Most chairs allow you to fully relax while the massage rollers move up and down your back. This one takes some getting use to.
Of the two programs (shiatsu and rolling) I found the shiatsu the most relaxing. It seemed to do the best for me when my back was tight. I like that I can control where the focus of the massage will be (upper or lower back) and I like that I can control the width of the rollers.
The heating mechanism heats up gently, but quickly. If I have one complaint about the heat is that it takes a while for it to cool back down.
The final issue with this cushion, and it is one I think many people with have, is its limited range of height. I am 6' tall and the rollers on this cushion just touch the bottom of my shoulder blades when I am trying to massage my upper back. My wife is only 5' 3" and she said that when she sat on the cushion that the rollers actually pushed on her neck and were pinching her. So ideally it looks like the optimum height range for this cushion is about 5' 5" to 5' 10".
All in all this cushion gave a good massage. I enjoy using it and I like its portability. I can use it watching TV or when I am using the computer. Compared to the chairs that are 20x this price I think this product stacks up well. For the money it is hard to beat.
If there was some type of height adjustment I would have given this cushion 5 stars and would think you could charge another twenty to fourty dollars.
Product Review: GREAT MASSAGE PRODUCT.....!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Can you really ever say anything bad about any massage product? With it's variety of different settings (heat/no heat, rolling/shiatsu, full/lower back, etc) there is something for everyone who sits on this massage cushion. At 5'5", I did find that I would perhaps benefit more from the upper back massage if I were shorter. Additionally, my biggest complaint comes from the fact that even when the cushion is turned off, it emits a bright blue light; until it is completely unplugged. Despite this, I found this cushion to be soothing, and really quite a good masseuse. Great investment for the consumer who enjoys this type of thing.

Product Review: GREAT Massage Chair! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this product for my husband after he sat in one at B, B, & B. He stated a couple of days later how good his back still felt. So I did some research and due to the great reviews, I ordered him one. He uses it about 4-5 times a week and it makes such a difference to him! At first he didn't like the Shiatsu option but now he loves it and can really feel the benefits of how deep this massage is. He doesn't even want to go to a masseuse anymore! this is a GREAT massage chair and I have already recommended it to many friends.*
* The only thing, unplug the whole chair after use so the blue massage balls don't wear out...very easy to do!
Product Review: Gives A Massage That Makes A Difference Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have used recliners that had built-in massage features before and been very disappointed. While those typically had simple vibrate functionality, this massaging cushion is the real deal.
It is a very simple to use product. It comes with a short and straightforward instruction book (yes, you should read it before use). That is where you find that there is a screw that you need to remove prior to usage. You also will find the warnings for 15 minute total usage and 3 minute max on a single spot. Other than that, it is a breeze.
There are two styles of message that you can choose from (Shiatsu and Rolling). Within these, you can choose from full back, upper back, or lower back massages. There is also optional heat. I found the rolling massage to be too gentle; therefore, it did not make much difference to me. However, if Shiatsu is too strong for your taste, this might be just the setting. I loved the Shiatsu setting with heat. My back really feels loosened up after a full 15 minutes. I have also used a concentrated lower back and individual concentrated massage. I was pleased with the results in all cases. I have a desk job, and I start each morning with a full 15 minute Shiatsu massage with heat. It has certainly been a nice addition to my morning routine.
There are a couple of drawbacks to this product that keep it from being a five star item. When not in use, it is not comfortable to have against my back so I have to store it out of the way when not in use. This is minor, but you might want to consider this if you are tight on space. The buttons on the control are a little stiff. Again, this is not a show stopper, but it is a bit annoying. Finally, I am 6' 2", and I would like the cushion to be about three or four inches taller. However, I need it more for my lower back so this is not a major issue either.
Overall, this is a very good product. What sets it apart from the other two models from Homedics is the quad roller system. To me the SBM-200H and SBM-300H would be like getting only half a massage after using the QRM-400H. I think it is worth the difference in price.
Product Review: Good Experience -- Great Office Accessory Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
We had a water problem-- Gutters! You don't want to know about it. But it involved moving a number of bankers boxes full of files from one watersoaked room to the deck to dry. Then it began to rain unexpectedly and we had to rush to move the boxes back into the office.
When this was over I plugged in the massage cushion....
I used it in an executive style (high backed) office chair and it was comfortable although it felt a bit odd at first. I had used it before and found it not unpleasant. This was the first time that I had used it when my back was really tense. There's plenty of other descriptions of the various massage features so I'm going to skip all that. I started out with the rolling for the whole back with heat then I set it to shiatsu and used the control to find just the place that needed it right below the shoulders. I spent the whole three minutes allowed there and would probably have spent the entire 15 minutes on that one spot.
When it was over I shut the power off, laid down and melted into a puddle. 20 minutes later I woke up feeling better than I had all day.
Things I would change-- I wish it came up further. Also it would be nice to use the heat at first without the rollers to loosen the muscles some. Finally if you have had back surgery, even 17 years ago, it's going to cause some pain over the scar, but nothing horrible.
A very nice thing to have at the office.
