Product Review: Beats popping pills all day
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been wanting to try the neti thing for years ever since I heard a favorite singer swearing by it. I was tired of popping pills and snorting nasal sprays so now was the time to finally make that move. The first time was admittedly a mess but I learned what I was doing wrong and it has been smooth sailing ever since. Although results can be felt immediately, I believe consistent use (twice a day) over 4 to 5 staight days makes a world of difference and gets you back to normal. After that, use as you see fit.

As others have said, there is no need to buy the special salt sold here. For neti use, I splurged for some "gourmet" pure sea salt at $1.99 for 18oz, but you could very well get any kind of non-iodized salt.

Product Review: Bye bye sinus infections and severe allergy attacks
Summary: 5 Stars

When my wife first suggested this product for me, I kind of laughed, but now I can hardly live without using my Neti Pot. In fact I bought a non breakable one for days that I travel.

Prior to using the Neti Pot, I suffered from monthly sinus infections and I believe I came down with a cold every other month. Add in my normally allergy attacks from any change in the weather or winds and I was quite often miserable.

Enter the Neti Pot. It took a few days to get used to the strange sensation of pouring water into my nose, but I soon became quite comfortable with the use. I call it my nasal rinse, and now I rinse twice a day and sometimes more often if I feel a cold coming on or my allergies start to act up.

In the 8 months that I have been using this miracle product I have had zero sinus infections and one very mild cold that lasted a little less than a day. I can see why it works so well.

This is really a great item to use after working in the yard. As gross as it may sound, you can see the dirt flow out. I can only imagine what leaving that dirt in my sinuses would cause.

The bottom line, "if you suffer from sinus infections and or allergies, you should at least give this product a try !!!!" Be sure to give it a few days.

Oh and one other benefit, I don't seem to have dry sinuses anymore.

Product Review: Clean, clear, moist and happy sinuses!
Summary: 5 Stars

Don't get me wrong. I know the body takes care of its sinuses under optimum conditions, but in a home with three cats, cat boxes and dusty litter, my sinuses needed some help. A quick wash with Himalayan Institute Original Neti Pot, Ceramic has helped me breathe easier and has stopped the incessant post-nasal drip. It beats taking prescription decongestants that will leave you feeling amped or groggy.

The first time I tried Neti Pot, it was scary to feel the warm water moving through my sinuses and I had to remind myself to keep my mouth open and breathe. It doesn't hurt like plain water does because the salt acts as a buffer on tender mucous membranes. The second time, I knew what to expect and it was a breeze. I use the Neti Pot daily when I take my morning shower.

I'm using plain, non-iodized salt, baking soda and warm water from the shower instead of the salt mixture offered by the makers of Neti Pot. I made a batch of equal parts of salt and baking soda and keep it in a plastic container in the bathroom. I add a level 1/4 tsp. of the mixture to a potful of warm shower water. Consult the manufacturer's website for a video that will show you the best position and procedure.

There are lots of articles on the Internet about using nasal lavage, and I've seen some pretty odd things such as people adding decongestant nasal sprays to their salt solution. Be really careful about taking recommendations like that. Your mucus membranes are delicate. Use pure ingredients and common sense when cleaning them.

Product Review: Doesn't work for everyone...
Summary: 3 Stars

I got the Neti Pot for my boyfriend after reading all the reviews of people with killer allergies that were relieved by this pot. Well, it didn't really work for him, I guess because he's just SO congested; the water sloshed around and apparently went down the back of his throat instead of out his other nostril. Additionally, he tilted his head the wrong way at one point, and he had the very painful sensation of his "brain filling up with water." Even when he did finally get it to flow the corect way through both nostrils, he only felt relief for a few minutes before clogging back up again. Maybe if he tries it again when his allergies are a little better, it will work better. It's just too bad it couldn't relieve some of his congestion right away.

For ME, though, the Neti Pot worked great! I was totally fascinated by the whole thing, so I had to try it. The sensation I had was that of being underwater--but it was totally disorienting because I could still breathe through my mouth. Once I got over that feeling, it cleared out my sinuses really well; I hadn't realized I was at all congested, but I was amazed at how much easier it was to breathe afterwards. It also seemed to moisturize the inside of my nose, which was pretty dry due to the winter air and weather.

So, it's a 5-star product for me, but a 1-star product for its intended recipient... that averages out to 3 stars.

Product Review: Excessive packaging
Summary: 4 Stars

The neti pot is very nice, but it came sealed in hard plastic, which was excessive, and doesn't quite fit the environmental image of the company.
