I purchased this product hoping to find a fiber that wouldn't produce so much gas. Unfortunately such was not the case. While I find it does produce less gas than other fibers I have tried, it still is a problem. Two big plusses however are that it only takes about half as much of Heather's Tuffy Fiber to produce the same results as other fibers, and, it does dissolve very quickly, particularly if placed in an empty glass and then filled with warm, (not hot), water. In fact it dissolves so easily that if done in this manner no stirring is necessary. I've had issues all my life with constipation and stomach problems. After seeing a gastroenterologist who determined I have IBS he acutally recommended I visit Heather's site. I had been trying all types of fiber up to and including prunes for years getting sicker, more bloated and gas with each one. I was impressed with the information I found on Heather's site and the support. I decided to try Heather's Tummy Fiber as a last resort and luckily after some trial and error I find it works for me. Since IBS is a daily trial and error I'd have to say that this fiber is what gets me through most days. I do find I can still get some bloating but can't be sure that is do to the Tummy Fiber.
I agree with others that it dissolves rather easily, is tasteless and if for some reason it doesn't dissolve right away just wait and it will eventually dissolve. I've purchased one of those hand shake blenders and it does the trick. I wasn't so successful using a fork to stir and I've not used it mixing it into foods so I can't comment on its effectiveness if you do this. I also use a flavored water diluted with plain water then take a 16 oz drinking glass and dilute it again to flavor my water throughout the day which also allows me to take it gradually throughout the day rather than all at once. This also helps force me to drink a lot of water since I'm not one to down lots of water which also doesn't help gastro issues.
I cannot go without this product for even 1 day so it comes along with me when I travel. Since I've invested in the bulk product I find the best way to take it along is in a ziploc. This stuff looks a great deal like cocaine and I get nervous that they will stop me while going through security. You may think I'm nuts but who wants the hassle with Homeland Security. I've gone so far as to fold up the bag and stick in the ziploc. So far no issues!
I love that you can purchase this product through Amazon at the lowest price to be found and with free shipping! If you are ever out and need it quickly I've been able to purchase it at a health foods store.
All in all I give this 5 stars because it seems to do the trick, it is easy to use and without it I'd have nothing to use and feel awful.
