Product Review: Great Product for Support (Not for full body weight)

This is a great product to use for support. It is not made to hold or support your entire body weight. I installed this in the shower for support for my 82 year old dad. His shower has 4.25" smooth tiles and it was easy to install and works great. If you plan on installing this product on tile then you must have at least 4" tiles or larger for this product to fit. The body has raised ridges for good grip and the suction cups are really strong. Just make sure to prep the surface properly to get a good connection. I followed the instructions and used rubbing alcohol to clean the tile (I also cleaned the rubber suction cups with the alcohol). It does not damage the surface you attach it too and can be easily moved or repositioned. When moving or repositioning, be very careful to not damage the suction cups or the product may not hold securely.
Here is some information directly from the instructions that you may find helpful: "The Quick Rail is designed for use only on smooth, non-porous surfaces; tile, glass, porcelain, some plastics. Not for use on painted, papered, wood, embossed surfaces, mosaic or embossed tiles. Support surfaces should be sound and free from defects. Do not mount the Quick Rail where it will be in direct sunlight. Check the condition of the suction cups - do not use if damaged, cracked, or split."

I have now ordered "3" of these Suction Bath Safety Rails, two for our walk-in shower, one for the area above the bath tub in our other bathroom. I didn't order this bar for support, but rather to hold up my fabric shower curtain liner after a shower. I was having trouble with mildew from the curtain hanging against the wet tub, and this bar solved my problem perfectly! I had to install it slanted to fit my tiles, but it actually works better for me that way. It held to the tiles very tightly, and it is still there with no slippage at all. I have used it to hold onto for balance a few times as well, and it feels solid and secure. I love this bar, though I wouldn't recommend it for someone needing full support in the tub, since I can't say how well it would hold under weight. But for balance and light support it holds firmly. And of course, it's perfect for holding up a wet curtain liner to air-dry.
