Last year, I worked in a small office without windows. It was nearly driving me nuts not having any sunlight entering the office. As a result, I disabled the florescent bulbs in the ceiling and hunted for an affordable light that would simulate sunshine. This one was on a lightning special (yet pricier than I think it's worth based upon how it is built) and was a suitable option.
I purchased this lamp in January, 2009 and it is so-so. I had placed it in my office near my desk and it did help brighten up my workspace as well as assist me in feeling more energized. I have since changed roles and left that office, so I moved the lamp to my home. I don't use the lamp as often as I did when I had it in the office because the light it produces is harsh and bold. For my home, I'd rather have a warmer feel.
The lamp is very lightweight and seems to be inexpensively manufactured (it is plastic). Due to it being so light, it has been knocked over a few times. Nearly each time it is knocked over, the white plastic shade pops off.
Overall, this lamp is decent. It does what it says it does and works just fine. Its not my favorite lamp for my house, but for an office I find it to be fine.

The Happylite is one of the best values for the money. Although it is a little difficult to get the light cover to snap in place, the lamp is otherwise easy to use. And extremely bright. The light is too white for those who are glare - sensitive; same light as in generic Verilux desk and pole lamps, which works fine when hooded, but does not create same effect as protoypical light box.
