I live in central new york and couldn't stand to be without this in the winter. Have had it for a year now and use it every day, sometimes for hours - in the summer I keep it up on top of my fridge to brighten up my dark kitchen, and in the winter it supplies the ambient light for my office. I rarely put it directly in front of me because that would cut down on the time I could use it. So it gets a ton of use, and after a year the original bulbs are still going strong. Also it seems to be far more durable than it looks - it has fallen to the floor a couple of times (bad kitty!) and held up perfectly.Product Review: lux lucis

With the days getting shorter, I have been using this lamp at work. I place it behind my computer screen. I have been positively influenced by the light, because I can keep on working with high energy even when it's gray or dark outside. I recommend this product to anyone who gets affected by the lack of light in the winter or who works inside a lot. I still suggest to keep on trying to get outside on sunny days anyway even for a short walk around the block. This lamp is actually annoying. Its just like a fluorescent light bulb. No noticeable mood change whats so ever.
Add on: 9/5/08 (within a year from purchase and only a few hours usage!)
CAUTION! Mine flickered a couple of times and then went POOF! I turned around to see what happen and there was smoke coming out of back of it!! A few days later I decided to see if it was the bulb and the light still works but now I am afraid to use it..

I had tried this lamp borrowed from a friend and decided to purchase my own from Amazon--it arrived quick and had been "on sale"--I am pleased with it and use it often and find it helpful healthfully!
